2020 MMA Betting News & Rumors Update Nov. 16th Edition

One of the big disappointments ahead of UFC Vegas 14 was that Islam Makhachev was forced to pull out of the headline Lightweight event against Rafael dos Anjos. He took to Twitter after do Anjos beat Paul Felder to congratulate him on his win, whilst also making it clear that he wanted a chance to reschedule the fight that has now been cancelled twice. The problem now, though, is that this matchup doesn’t make a lot of sense for dos Anjos, who would basically be taking a backwards step to face Makhachev. It also seems as though the dos Anjos camp now has Conor McGregor in their sights.

Everyone was more than a little stunned when Khabib Nurmagomedov announced that he was retiring after his last win. There is some serious doubt that the retirement is permanent, though, as Dana White has already called it into question and has refused to strip the champ of his title. Adding fuel to the fore is that fact that Khabib is still being drug tested by USADA. If he was totally done with the UFC, would he really still have his name in the testing pool? This is a situation that we are going to be watching very closely.

We have already taken a peek at what to expect from Rafael dos Anjos after his win on Saturday night, but what about some of the other winners from the weekend? Khaos Williams is a fighter on the rise, and given that it took him just 30 seconds to get the win over Alhassan, we might expect to see him in action again quite soon. There are lots of fans who would love to see him square off against Niko Price next. With his win over Brendan Allen, Sean Strickland is now on an impressive 3-fight win streak. The fight that makes the most sense for Strickland is a bout against David Zawada. The winner of that one would almost certainly move into the top 10 in a loaded Middleweight division.

UFC 255 is coming up this weekend, with a pair of title fights set to go on the main card in that one. As always, we will have previews and predictions for all the fights on the main card, so be sure to check back in later this week to see what we have to offer.
