XFL Week 2 2020 Odds, Preview & Predictions

Written by on February 10, 2020

Last weekend, we were introduced to the XFL, version 2.0, with many drawing comparisons to the original league before a ball was kicked or thrown. What we saw in Week 1 of the XFL season was a product that was more about the football and less about the sideshow. The result was an entertaining batch of games that was not at all bad. It is going to take some time to get used to the rules, many of which are different from the NFL, but the differences are good and make for a much quicker brand of football than we are used to. Now that we have seen each team play, we can look ahead to Week 2 to start making some predictions. Let’s see how the XFL betting odds will be for Week 2 Games.

XFL Week 2 2020 Odds, Preview & Predictions

New York Guardians at DC Defenders

The opening week of the season was very much a positive one for the teams playing at home, with 3 of the 4 home teams getting the win. The New York Guardians were among that group, coming out rather comfortable winners in a 23-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Vipers. They are going to have a much tougher time of things this Saturday, though, as they will be on the road to face a Defenders team that looked very good in their opener. DC took out Seattle 31-19 at home and look like a good bet to pick up back to back wins to start the season.

Tampa Bay Vipers at Seattle Dragons

You do have to feel a little bit of sympathy for the Vipers, as their season begins with back to back games on the road. They were soundly beaten in Week 1, but their demise was partly their own doing, with an Aaron Murray INT after a great drive that looked set to result in points early in the game somewhat setting the tone. The Dragons were also on the receiving end of a beating, but home field may make them the favorites here in what might well be a low-scoring affair.

Dallas Renegades at LA Wildcats

We have a pair of Week 1 losers going head to head in the opening game of Sunday afternoon, with Dallas hitting the road to face LA. The Renegades had the unwanted distinction of being the only home team to lose in Week 1 of the season going down 15-9 at home to the St. Louis Battlehawks. If they cannot go on the road and get the win here, they will be putting themselves in a very early hole. The Wildcats came out strong in Week 1, opening up an early 14-point lead before falling apart and losing 37-17 to Houston. I think LA holds on for the win in Week 2.

St. Louis Battlehawks at Houston Roughnecks

The Battlehawks will be forever known as the first team to pick up a road win in the new version of the XFL. They went into Dallas and stunned the home crowd, thanks in large part to the QB/RB tandem of Ta’amu and Jones, both of whom put up very decent numbers in the win. It took the Huston Roughnecks a minute to get going in their season opener, but when they did, they looked very good on the offensive side of the football, dropping a Week 1 high of 37 points. I like the Roughnecks to go 2-0 on Sunday.
