AAF Week 8 Betting Odds, Preview & Picks

Written by on March 29, 2019

The teething troubles of the Alliance of American Football appear to be carrying on unabated, with the off-field issues gathering more headlines than what is happening on the field. It’s disappointing, too, because this has the potential to be a very fun league to watch. All the players can do at this point is to continue to deliver the goods, which they will try to do as we roll into AAF Week 8 Betting action. There are, as always, four games on tap between Saturday and Sunday, so let’s take a look at all the action.

AAF Week 8 Betting Odds, Preview & Picks

2019 AAF Standings

Eastern Conference

  • Orlando Apollos (6-1)
  • Birmingham Iron (4-3)
  • Memphis Express (2-5)
  • Atlanta Legends (2-5)

Western Conference

  • San Antonio Commanders (5-2)
  • Arizona Hotshots (4-3)
  • San Diego Fleet (3-4)
  • Salt Lake Stallions (2-5)

Orlando Apollos at Memphis Express – Saturday 2 PM EST on TNT

At 6-1, the Apollos are in possession of the best record in the AAF, which includes a perfect 4-0 record in the East Division. They are coming off a lopsided 36-6 win over the Atlanta Legends in Week 7, but they will be up against a Memphis team that suddenly looks very different.

If you haven’t been paying attention to this league, you may not be aware that Johnny Manziel is now part of the Express, making his debut last week in a 31-25 OT win over Birmingham. I’m not sure that his presence will be enough to make a difference here, though, as I like Orlando to win and cover the 10 ½ point spread.

San Diego Fleet at Salt Lake Stallions – Saturday 8 PM EST on NFL Network

The San Diego Fleet come into this one with a 3-4 record on the season, but they are still looking for their first road win of the season.

They were soundly beaten 32-15 last week by Arizona and will be looking to bounce back against the team sitting at the bottom of the West Division. The Salt Lake Stallions have just 2 wins to their name, but both of those victories came on home field, so it’s perhaps not that surprising that they are a 3-point favorite here. Let’s take the Stallions to win a close one.

Atlanta Legends at Birmingham Iron – Sunday 4 PM on CBS Sports Network

After winning back to back games to get their season back on track, Atlanta then went on to drop their next two games, going to 2-5 in the process.

The Legends are not a safe AAF Week 8 Betting pick.

The Legends have had difficulty putting points up on the board all season long and will be up against a Birmingham team that knows how to score. The Iron are coming off an OT loss to Memphis last week, so they will be looking to get back to winning ways as they try to improve upon their current 4-3 record. Birmingham looks like a very good bet as a 6-point favorite here.

Arizona Hotshots at San Antonio Commanders – Sunday 8 PM on NFL Network

This is a battle between the top two teams in the West Division, with the San Antonio Commanders leading the way with a 5-2 record.

The Commanders have gone 3-1 against their division foes and are 2-1 in their own building. The Hotshots are sitting just off the pace at 4-3 on the season and have been better away from home this year, posting a 2-1 record in hostile territory. Let’s give the slight edge to the San Antonio Commanders at home and take them to win and cover at -1 ½.
