  • Andrea Dovizioso +5000

Is Marc Marquez a lock to win the 2019 Aragon MotoGP?

After finishing second to Alex Rins at the British MotoGP on August 25, Marc Marquez dominated the San Marino and Rimini’s Coast Grand Prix. He absolutely beat up his competition when heading his closest competitor, Fabio Quartararo, by almost a full second. Marquez’s victory was by .903 seconds.

A second is an eternity in motorcycle racing. The victory allayed all fears that the most dominant racer in the MotoGP Season had lost his touch. Marquez broke a two race losing streak with the win. He’s absolutely back on track. But, that doesn’t mean we should bite on the -50000 odds.

First, there’s no value here. Marquez could be on a 10 race winning streak and we’d still be hard-pressed to back him at these odds. Also, the top Moto Grand Prix racer did lose twice in the last three races. Once again, it’s difficult to back Marquez even though he’s so obviously the racer to beat.

Can Andrea Dovizioso upset Marquez? If not Dovizioso will Rins, or Vinales step in his way?

Andrea Dovizioso had an okay race at San Marino and Rimini Coast. He finished sixth, 13.744 seconds behind Marquez. Dovizioso won the Austrian MotoGP. There’s a chance he could have one of those special moments on Sunday.

Alex Rins didn’t finish in San Marino. At the British Moto Grand Prix, he squeaked by Marquez, beating the favorite by .013 seconds. Like Dovizioso, he could challenge the chalk if the chalk runs into some trouble.

Maverick Vinales, though, might be the best racer to back to upset Marquez on Sep. 22. Vinales finished third, less than a second behind Marquez, at the British MotoGP. At the San Marino and Rimini’s Coast Grand Prix, he finished third behind Quartararo and Marquez.

Vinales could surprise on Sunday. He has a better shot than the odds indicate.

Can Danilo Petrucci or Valentino Rossi win the 2019 Aragon MotoGP?

If Marquez falters, Petrucci and Rossi have a shot just like Vinales, Rins, and Dovizioso of winning the 2019 Aragon MotoGP. Rossi, especially, could end up on the podium. He’s finished fourth in 3 straight races.

Petrucci finished seventh at the British MotoGP. He finished tenth in San Marino. Although neither finish inspires confidence, Petrucci raced better earlier in the season. If he can rediscover the form he showed back then, he could surprise.

Marquez, like every MotoGP even this year, will be tough to take down on Sunday. Key in on Alex Rins or Maverick Vinales if you want to beat the chalk. If you want to accept the low odds on Marc, go for it!
