NCAAB – Best bets for Friday, December 16, 2022

The weekend is upon us, which means it’s time for our weekly Friday picks in college basketball. We have been hitting around .500 since starting this thing, so we’ll be looking to try and take it up a notch in the coming weeks. There are no ranked teams playing on Friday night, so we have had to dig a little deeper into the schedule to see what we can come up with. We landed on 4 games to play, with 2 against the spread and 2 on the point total. Let’s see if we can start the weekend with a win and the best of the betting in the NCAAB.

Best bets for Friday, December 16, 2022

Central Connecticut Blue Devils at Manhattan Jaspers (-4 ½)

Two smaller teams going head-to-head here in a game that may be more lopsided than the spread suggests. The Blue Devils are off to an absolutely nightmarish start to the season, going 1-10 and failing to win in each of their 6 games away from home. It hasn’t been much better for the Jaspers, who are 3-6 and on a 3-game losing skid heading into Friday night. They have, though, covered the spread in 6 of their last 8, so this might be a matchup that snaps them out of their skid.

Austin Peay Governors at Murray State Racers (-7 ½)

Unlike the first game in this list where both teams have struggled, we have a pair of teams here coming into the weekend with a winning record. The Governors are at 6-5, but they have not been great away from home, going 1-2 there. The Racers are 6-4, but perhaps more importantly, they are a perfect 3-0 in their own building. The Racers have proven to be a good pick when playing teams with a winning record, as they have covered in 7 of the last 9 meetings with teams sitting above .500.

Xavier Musketeers at Georgetown Hoyas – UNDER 155 ½

Xavier will be hitting the road on Friday as they look to keep their winning streak alive. The Musketeers are out to a respectable 8-3 start to the season and are rolling at the moment, winning each of their last 4 games, although only 1 of those wins came on the road. It’s not so great for the Hoyas, who are below .500 at 5-6 on the year. This is the first conference game for both teams, so they will be looking to get out to a strong start. 4 of their last 5 meetings have fallen UNDER the point total.

Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix at Stanford Cardinal – OVER 130 ½

While both of these teams are off to a slow start this season, this is one that you would expect the Cardinals to win, as they are coming in as a 24 ½ point favorite. Neither team is really lighting things up on the offensive side of the court, with the Phoenix actually averaging less than 60 PPG, which helps explain why the point total is on the lower end of the scale for this one. The OVER has hit in 7 of the last 8 for the Phoenix, and while Stanford is trending UNDER, the total here is low enough that I think these guys can take it OVER.
