Boxing Betting: Seven Saturday Matches to Bet Before Askren Versus Paul
Top Weekend Boxing Events
- When: Saturday, April 17
Saturday, April 17 Bouts
- Israel Mercado +255 / Movladdin Biyarslanov -330
7-0 with 7 knockouts, southpaw Movladdin Biyarslanov has skills. He’s great at putting together combinations. Without a doubt, though, Israel Mercado is the best boxer Biyarslanov has ever faced. Mercado appears to have a slightly longer reach. He’s also got a decent lead left hook. Biyarslanov can beat Mercado if he is as energetic as he usually is. But the odds don’t justify a bet on the chalk. We’ll grab the much better odds on the underdog.
Boxing Pick: Israel Mercado
- Demetrius Andrade -400 / Liam Williams +300
Demetrius Andrade has a stunning 29-0 record with 18 knockouts. He’s 6’ 0” with a 70-inch reach. Andrade’s opponent is 23-2-1 Liam Williams. The underdog is a good fighter, but Andrade is the much bigger man. Also Andrade should land wood every time Williams comes rushing in, something the UK fighter tends to do.
Boxing Pick: Demetrius Andrade
- Carlos Gongora -700 / Christopher Pearson +475
Gongora has never lost. He’s 19-0 with 14 knockouts. Opponent Christopher Pearson is 17-2 and hasn’t boxed since May 2019. Pearson lost his last bout by knockout. Gongora has power. More importantly, he’s patient. Expect the chalk to get the knockout. If MyBookie posts round odds, choose a later round, the ninth or tenth.
Boxing Pick: Gongora via KO or TKO in Round 9 or Round 10
- Brian Perella +350 / Tony Harrison -500
Harrison’s last fight ended with a kockout loss to Jermell Charlo. Sometimes long layoffs like the one Harrison comes off of can affect a boxer. Often, a layoff does, but Harrison is a pro. He’s got a 28-3 record with 21 knockouts. Abel Ramos knocked out Brian Perella in his last fight. Back Harrison to win via TKO, KO, or disqualification. He should have no trouble in his comeback bout.
Boxing Pick: Harrison via TKO, KO, or disqualification
- Reykon +525 / Joe Fournier -850
Joe Fournier is a billionaire former boxer who got into some beef with Reykon in a club. Who is Reykon? He’s one of the foremost reggaeton performers in the world. Reykon has no shot in this. Fournier is 8-0 with 8 knockouts. Sure, he hasn’t fought since 2016 but he’s a pro and Reykon is a musical artist. Fournier should end the fight early.
Boxing Pick: Fournier via KO or TKO in Round 3 or Round 4
- Frank Mir +600 / Steve Cunningham -1100
In his training videos, MMA fighter Frank Mir looks decent. He can box. But five of Mir’s last seven MMA fights ended by knockout. Three of the five losses happened via KO or TKO by punches. Steve Cunningham hasn’t fought since 2017. Cunningham battled guys like Antonio Tarver and Tyson Fury. Also, he doesn’t look his age. Cunningham is listed as thirty-nine but he looks to be around thirty-two. The man is cut. Cunningham ends this early.
Boxing Pick: Cunningham via TKO or KO in Round 2 or Round 3
- Regis Prograis -3000 / Ivan Redkach +1100
It’s hard not to like Prograis, who is 25-1 with 21 knockouts. Prograis’ lone loss happened via majority decision to 17-0 Josh Taylor. Ivan Redkach lost a unanimous decision to Danny Garcia in his last fight. Prograis will probably win this. He should, but the odds give Redkach no shot. The Ukrainian boxer is a pitbull. He’s got a motor that never stops. Josh Taylor beat Prograis by pressuring him. If Prograis doesn’t respond when Redkach pressures him, who knows? The dog in this could pull off an unbelievable upset.
Boxing Pick: Ivan Redkach
