Saturday, Feb. 27th Bouts

  • Joseph Parker -850 / Junior Fa +450

Undefeated Junior Fa faces a tough test against veteran Joseph Parker. Parker is 29-2 with 21 knockouts. The two losses were against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. Both those guys have way more experience than Junior. But Fa has quick hands. He’s got a better shot than the odds indicate.

Boxing Pick: Junior Fa

  • Anthony Cacace -300 / Leon Woodstock +240

Cacace versus Woodstock isn’t a -300 versus +240 boxing match. Neither the favorite nor the underdog throws with a lot of power. Cacace is 18-1 with 7 knockouts. Woodstock is 12-1 with 5 knockouts. Leon has a better than +200 shot to win this fight. So we’ll back him.

Boxing Pick: Leon Woodstock

  • Julio Cesar Martinez -1400 / McWilliams Arroyo +650

There’s a reason McWilliams Arroyo is the underdog. He’s 35-years-old. You don’t often find 35-year-old boxers who can hang with fighters like Julio Cesar Martinez. But Arroyo is on a 3-fight winning streak. All 3 bouts happened in his native Puerto Rico.

That could be the reason nobody has faith in McWilliams. JC Martinez is 17-1 with 13 knockouts. The 26-year-old is skilled in the Mexican style, fighting inside, winning angles, and counter punching. We’d love to back the underdog. But the WBC Flyweight Champ is too good.

Boxing Pick: Julio Cesar Martinez

  • Jerry Forrest +475 / Zhilei Zhang -700

Forrest is a handpicked opponent. He’s lost 2 of his last 3. Yes, he knocked out Martez Williamson impressively. But who hasn’t beaten Martez? Williamson has a 3-26-1 record.

Zhang is no lock even if he’s got a 22-0 record with 17 knockouts. Zhilei is 37-years-old. He’s got a lot of rounds under his belt. If Forrest can stay away from Zhang’s power punches, he could pull off a win.

How likely is that to happen? Not likely. Not likely at all.

Boxing Pick: Zhilei Zhang

  • Anthony Dirrell -350 / Kyrone Davis +275

Anthony Dirrell steps onto the canvas for the first time since 2019. Now 36-years-old, he hopes to show he’s still a viable contender. Only two fighters have bested Dirrell, then champion David Benavidez in that 2019 bout, and Badou Jack back in 2015. Kyrone Davis is ten years younger than Dirrell. But unless Davis has stopped standing straight up and moving straight forward with his hands below his chin, he won’t win this bout. Dirrell takes this.

Boxing Pick: Anthony Dirrell

Canelo Alvarez Vs Avni Yildirim – Canelo Wins in What Round?

  • Round 1 +600
  • Round 2 +550
  • Round 3 +550
  • Round 4 +550
  • Round 5 +600
  • Round 6 +700
  • Round 7 +900
  • Round 8 +1200
  • Round 9 +1600
  • Round 10 +2200
  • Round 11 +3300
  • Round 12 +5000

If Avni Yildirim beats Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, it might be the greatest upset in sports history. Yes, Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson was big, but Buster had a fantastic jab.

Yildirim doesn’t have a jab like Buster’s. Since we don’t believe Avni has any shot against the pound-for-pound king, we’re taking a stab on a  Canelo round win bet.

If Alvarez wants to go to bed early, he may knock out Yildirim in the first round. That’s not likely to happen, though. This is Canelo’s second fight promoting himself. He wants to entertain fans, which is why Saul won’t get to business until at least the fourth round.

Getting to business means stepping to the side and throwing thunderous left hooks to Yildirim’s body or around his guard. Avni keep his hands high, which isn’t bad, but his hands are almost always in front of his face.

Canelo will see that and land his left hook pretty much at will. So when does Saul land enough left hooks to send Yildirim to the canvas? Round 6 or 7 look promising.

We’re going with Round 7. Canelo will use the first six rounds to entertain DAZN subscribers. Then in Round 7, he’ll dominate Yildirim and end the fight.

Boxing Pick: Canelo wins in Round 7
