Saturday, Aug. 14th Bouts

  • Jason Maloney -700 / Joshua Greer Jr. +400

22-2-2 Joshua Greer Jr. has wanted to fight Jason Maloney for some time. Greer doesn’t head into this in his best form. He drew with Edwin Rodriguez in his last and lost to Mike Plania in the bout before. But Nayoa Inoue knocked out Maloney in his last fight. Boxers don’t always recover in their first bout after Monster destroys them. Give Greer a chance.

Boxing Pick: Joshua Greer Jr.

WBA Bantamweight – 12 Rounds

  • Antonio Russell -175 / Emmanuel Rodriguez +145

18-0 with 12 knockout wins, 28-year-old Antonio Russell faces a strong competitor in Emmanuel Rodriguez. Russell faces one of the better fighters in the division. But Rodriguez has lost 2 straight, including dropping a match to Inoue in 2019 and losing his 2020 bout via split-decision to Reymart Gaballo. Russell should keep his undefeated record intact.

Boxing Pick: Antonio Russell

WBA Junior Lightweight – 12 Rounds

  • Renee Alvarado -135 / Roger Guitierrez +115

In January this year, Guitierrez beat Alvarado via unanimous decision. For many, the bout was too close to call. But Guitierrez is the champion. So if the odds don’t change making Guitierrez the favorite, he’s the one to back.

Boxing Pick: Roger Guitierrez

WBA Junior Bantamweight – 12 Rounds

  • Joshua Franco +195 / Andrew Maloney -245

21-1 with 14 knockouts, Andrew Maloney beat Joshua Franco last November due to an accidental headbutt. Franco lost via a no-decision. Maloney tends to waste a lot of energy dancing around and looking like a boxer. That doesn’t mean he won’t win this fight. It does mean Franco didn’t get much of a shot because the ref called it in the second round. Franco should give Maloney all he can handle, which makes the challenger the pick.

Boxing Pick: Joshua Franco

WBO Bantamweight – 12 Rounds

  • John Riel Casimero -235 / Guillermo Rigondeaux +190

Casimero is on a 6-fight winning streak. He hasn’t lost since 2017. Rigondeaux is a legend and has won 3 straight. But he’s 40-years-old now. Casimero is 8 years younger, has fought the tougher opponents, and has dominated. This could be Rigondeaux’s last fight. So tune in if you can. Don’t back the old warrior, though. Casimero is the play.

Boxing Pick: John Riel Casimero

WBO Welterweight – 12 Rounds

  • Egidijus Kavaliauskas +905 / Vergil Ortiz Jr.  -1520

Kvaliauskas has fought some of the best in the world, including Terence Crawford. But let’s not kid ourselves. He doesn’t have much of a shot against Vergil Ortiz. Even though Kavaliauskas’ only loss happened versus Crawford, Ortiz is a machine. Vergil has won all 17 bouts via knockout. Nobody wants to fight Ortiz, which is why he’s in the ring against Kavaliauskas. Expect a knockout. So look for a couple of rounds, maybe even three, and make those your bets in this one.

Boxing Pick: Vergil Ortiz Jr.
