One of the great things about the opening week of the college football season is that every team comes in with the same record, and every single one of them has the same dream, which is to win a National Championship. Only one team can actually pull that off, and as the week’s progress, hopes and dreams will quickly start to crumble. Getting off to a good start is incredibly important, and different teams take very different approaches on how to do that. For some, and easy game is the way to go in Week 1, while others look to test themselves from the get go. Two teams who appear to be looking for a stern test are the Georgia Bulldogs and the North Carolina Tar Heels, as they will hook up in the Chik-Fil-A Kick-Off Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. These are a pair of teams with high hopes this online betting season, and a win in Week 1 could well be the catalyst that spurs them on to even greater things.

Why bet on the North Carolina Tar Heels?

It was a solid year for the North Carolina Tar Heels last season, going 11-3 last season, and winning the ACC Coastal by going a perfect 8-0 in their division. North Carolina are returning a lot of starters on both offense and defense, and while that may seem great, they definitely have some issues that need to be addressed. Specifically, their run defense was brutal, and the offense was often forced to raise their game in order to keep up with what was going on when they were off the field. Neutral site games, which this is, were also an issue, as that was were all 3 of their losses came last season. Those are both things that they will need to overcome in order to get the win.

Why bet on the Georgia Bulldogs?

The Bulldogs went par for the course last year, once again winning 10 games, yet still managing to underwhelm. A big part of the problem was injuries, including the one suffered by Nick Chubb, but it was all a little too similar to recent seasons, and it cost Mark Richt his job. There is a newfound level of excitement in Athens this season under new head coach Kirby Smart. It also helps that Chubb will be back, and that they have a 5-star QB in Jacob Eason in the fold. This could very well be a season where fortunes begin to change for the Georgia Bulldogs.

My Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Georgia Bulldogs are coming into this one as a 2.5-point favorite, and I think they will cover that spread quite easily. This is essentially a home game, and you can bet that the Dome is going to be rocking in anticipation. Watch for Nick Chubb to have a huge day against a porous Tar Heels run defense.
