2020 Razzie Awards

  • When: Saturday, March 14
  • Where: TBD
 2020 Razzie Awards Odds

Worst Supporting Actress

  • Rebel Wilson – Cats -300
  • Judi Dench – Cats +350
  • Jessica Chastain – Dark Phoenix +750
  • Cassi Davis – A Madea Family Funeral +1500
  • Fenessa Pineda – Rambo: Last Blood +2000

This is a battle between Wilson and Dench. Too much love has gone to Rebel. Although she was awful, can we look the past the fact that Dame Judi Dench decided to put on makeup for the wretched, awful, horrible train wreck that was Cats? Give it to Judi, man!

Worst Supporting Actor

  • James Corden – Cats -400
  • Tyler Perry (as Joe) – A Madea Family Funeral +500
  • Tyler Perry (as Uncle Heathrow) – A Madea Family Funeral +700
  • Seth Rogan – Zeroville +1500
  • Bruce Willis – Glass +1800

TP splits his own votes. Bruce was in an actual movie, one that didn’t suck nearly as much as everything else on this list. Seth Rogan got caught up in the awful Zeroville because he’s BFF’s with James Franco. That leaves the chalk, good old James Corden. Hey, Jimmy, we love you, but we gotta do it, dude.

Worst Remake, Ripoff, or Sequel

  • Rambo: Last Blood +105
  • Dark Phoenix +170
  • A Madea Family Funeral +650
  • Hellboy 2019 +700
  • Godzilla: King of Monsters +1100

Rambo: Last Blood. Only because the Razzie folks won’t ever get the chance of giving an award to such a stellar, earth-shaking, movie franchise again.

Razzie Redeemer Award

  • Adam Sandler – Uncut Gems -185
  • Eddie Murphy – Dolemite is My Name +215
  • Keanu Reeves – John Wick 3 / Toy Story 4 +900
  • Jennifer Lopez – Hustlers +900
  • Will Smith – Aladdin +2500

Our hearts are with Keanu. Reeves started his career not knowing what the hell he was doing. Then, he improved, bit-by-bit, movie-by-movie. Now? The man can act!

But Sadler is a good actor who made some awful, terrifically bad, choices during his career. Yeah, he deserves some redemption.

Worst Director

  • Tom Hooper – Cats -150
  • Fred Durst – The Fanatic +210
  • James Franco – Zeroville +700
  • Adrian Grunberg – Rambo: Last Blood +1200
  • Neil Marshall – Hellboy 2019 +1200

Hooper’s a lock, right? Nope. People love to bang on James Franco these days. But he’s not the choice. That has to be Fred Durst. The former Limp Bizkit frontman was one of the most unlikeable human beings on the planet in the late 1990s. We haven’t forgotten, Fred. So, here’s your Razzie.

Worst Actress

  • Hillary Duff – The Haunting of Sharon Tate -155
  • Tyler Perry (as Madea) – A Madea Family Funeral +300
  • Rebel Wilson – The Hustle +500
  • Francesca Hayward – Cats +900
  • Anne Hathaway – The Hustle / Serenity +1000

Poor Hillary. She ended up in a movie that nobody had to make. We mean, nobody. The Haunting of Sharon Tate isn’t about Tate’s murder. It’s not about the Manson Family murdering Tate. It’s about Tate having images, being haunted, by her future murder. Wow.

Worst Actor

  • John Travolta – The Fanatic / Trading Paint -165
  • Sylvester Stallone – Rambo: Last Blood +325
  • James Franco – Zeroville +500
  • David Harbour – Hellboy 2019 +900
  • Matthew McConaughey – Serenity +1000

Travolta was awful. But Stallone won for Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III. He also won for Rhinestone Cowboy back in 1983. The man’s a Razzie legend. Do you think the Razzie folks would pass up the chance to stick it to Sly and his second most famous character one last time? We didn’t either.

Worst Picture

  • Cats -400
  • The Fanatic +700
  • The Haunting of Sharon Tate +800
  • A Madea Family Funeral +1100
  • Rambo: Last Blood +1200

Every film nominated was awful. We know what we’re getting with Rambo and a Madea film., though. Those probably shouldn’t have gotten nods. I mean, anybody who goes to see Rambo or Madea shouldn’t expect more than what they get.

Films like The Haunting of Sharon Tate and The Fanatic always deserve Razzies because they are so, so, so important to the people who make them. But in 2019, heck, in the history of film, nothing came out comparable to the awesome awfulness that was Cats. We’re talking historic bad.

Nothing. Ever. Cats was so bad that it winning the Razzies is the chalk bet of the year.
