PFL Challenger Series Week Three

The second-largest MMA organization in the world is back in action on Friday, February 10th, and you won’t want to miss this Heavyweight week. The PFL is the only MMA league with a "sports-season" structure, featuring combatants fighting on the backlot of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida for a shot at a World Championship and the $1 million grand prize.

Week Three will be a can’t-miss event with Heavyweight fighters looking for huge knockouts. Danilo Marques (12-4), a four-time UFC veteran, will face off against Giacomo Lemos (8-0) in the main event on Friday night. Lemos defeated Billy Swanson in the second round of the 2022 PFL Challenger Series, while Marques has seen his last four fights end in a finish.

The heavyweight line-up for the 2023 PFL Challenger Series also consists of Isaiah Pinson (1-0) vs. Vitor Resende (4-0), Hassan Graham (1-0) vs. Abraham Bably (2-0), and Louie Sutherland (4-1) vs. Alton Meeks (4-1).

UFC 284: Makhachev vs. Volkanovski

The UFC’s tour around the world continues with a visit to Perth, Australia for UFC 284, which features one of the best main events we’ve seen in a long time. Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (23-1) will defend his championship against featherweight monarch Alexander Volkanovski (25-1) on February 11th, with prelims starting at 6 pm ET.

This is a can’t-miss UFC event of the year as Lightweight Champion Makhachev enters the bout in Australia fresh off the biggest victory of his young career by defeating Charles Oliveira with an arm-triangle choke. The Russian fighter has won his previous 11 UFC contests, and he will easily solidify himself as the pound-for-pound number one and all-time UFC great with a victory.

Similarly, since taking the Featherweight Championship from Max Holloway in 2019, the 34-year-old Volkanovski has ruled the class. In order to test himself against Makhachev, he will be moving up to lightweight. He is looking to become just the fourth double champion in UFC history.

UFC 284 also features the interim Featherweight Championship fight with a matchup between #2 Yair Rodriguez (15-3) and #5 Josh Emmett (18-2). The two 145-pound fighters enter the contest fresh off victories over Brian Ortega and Calvin Kattar respectively, setting them up for probably the biggest fights of their lives.

To round out this UFC 284 event, Jack Della Maddalena (13-2) takes on Randy Brown (16-4) (welterweight), Justin Tafa (5-3) will fight Parker Porter (13-7) (heavyweight), and Jimmy Crute (12-3) battles Alonzo Menifield (15-3) (light-heavyweight).
