MotoGP 2022 Argentine GP Betting Favorites and Analysis

Written by on April 1, 2022

You know that spring is upon us when we start to see motor sports return for a new season. All the major players are back in action, including MotoGP, which will be having their 3rd race of the season this coming weekend in Argentina. If you don’t actively follow the sport, you may not be aware that it tends to deliver some of the best championship races out there. Last season was close all the way to the end, and the way things have started in 2022, it looks like we might be in for another battle all the way to the final race of the season. As we look ahead to the Argentinian Grand Prix, let’s take a look at the current top 4 in the rider standings so you bet against the MotoGP Odds.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for Gran Premio Michelin de la República Argentina (Argentine GP)

Enea Bastianini

Back in 2020, Bastianini ended his time with Moto2 by winning the world championship. The next obvious step was to make the move up to MotoGP, which he did last season. There is always a period of adjustment when making that upward move, so Bastianini was probably not that disappointed with his 11th place overall finish. The question now is whether the win he picked up in Qatar in the opening race of the season is a sign that he is ready to compete for a world championship. Finishing 11th in the second race of the year might be enough to give some people a reason to pause. His past performances in Argentina, albeit at a different level, don’t inspire a ton of confidence.

Brad Binder

This is the 3rd season with MotoGP for Binder, with the feeling being that he might be ready for a breakout season. He finished 11th in his first full season at this level, which he then followed up with a 6th place finish in 2021. That natural progression suggests that he might be in among the leaders all the way to the end of this season. He started out with a 2nd place run in Qatar, which he followed up with an 8th place finish in Indonesia. The last time Binder raced in Argentina, it was during his time with Moto2. He finished 6th in that one.

Fabio Quartararo

If we are going to talk about breakout seasons, we need to talk about what Quartararo did in 2021. While he had been solid enough in his first 2 seasons in MotoGP, Quartararo hadn’t been able to keep it going all the way to the finish during those years. That was why there was some doubt about his ability to stay on top all the way through last season, and while he didn’t pick up a win in the final 6 races of 2021, he had a pair of podium finishes and top 5 runs that garnered him more than enough pints for the win. He finished in the top 10 in week 1, before delivering a 2nd place finish in Indonesia.

Miguel Oliveira

Over the course of his 3 seasons with MotoGP, Oliveira has delivered a few wins, but he has never really been consistent enough to make a serious run at the world championship. He was forced to retire in Qatar in the first race of the season, but he bounced back with a win in Indonesia. We are all just now waiting to see if that is a blip on the radar or a serious jumping off point for the rest of the season.
