MotoGP 2021 Austrian GP Betting Preview & Prediction

Written by on August 13, 2021

Just like last season, it looks as though we are going to have an exciting battle for the world championship in MotoGP. There are 8 races remaining in the 2021 season and we have a very good battle going on at the top of the rider standings. Will those standings look the same in the final week of the season, or will we see a rider emerge form the pack to take it all? The crystal ball is a little cloudy on that one, but what we can look at is the Austrian Grand Prix, which is set to go this weekend. This promises to be another exciting event, but who will come out on top? We are going to take a look at the current top 4 riders and how they have performed both this season and in past runs in Austria. Let’s get right to it so you can get ready to make your bets against the MotoGP odds.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for the Bitci Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich

Fabio Quartararo

Last year, it looked as though Quartararo might well be heading towards the world championship, but a serious loss of form in the second half of the season ended up costing him big time. I’m sure there were some concerns about how things might go this year as we went into the latter part of the season, but for now, Quartararo continues to set the pace and remain consistent. He has 4 wins on the season, but perhaps more importantly, he has now landed on the podium in 2 straight races. He has a 35-point lead at the top, and while that is not an unbeatable lead, it is still very good to have. His best finish in Austria came in 2019 when he landed in 3rd.

Joan Mir

If Mir is going to repeat as champion in 2021, he is going to have to come off the pace to do it. He made a little bit of an inroads last week by finishing 2nd in the Styrian Grand Prix, but the downside is that he is still looking for that elusive first win of the season. In fairness, though, he only won once in 2020 and still managed to ride away with the title. In the races that he has finished this season, he has yet to fall outside the top 10, so Mir has certainly been consistent. He finished 2nd in the Austrian Grand Prix last season.

Johann Zarco

Zarco finished his time in Moto2 with back-to-back world titles, but he has yet to show that form in MotoGP. This is his 5th season at this level, and he has yet to record a single win, but he is certainly in the hunt at this late stage of the season. Zarco has been a little unlucky not to have recorded that first win in 2021, as he now has 4 2nd place finishes to his name this season. He probably needs a win or two to make a serious run at the top spot.

Francesco Bagnaia

This has to be considered a breakthrough season for Bagnaia, who is in his 3rd year at the MotoGP level. He is another one who has yet to win at this level, but he has also come close in 2021 with a trio of podium finishes. His lack of wins makes him a bit of a longshot to take the checkered flag in Austria this weekend, but he is in the top 4 right now and has to be looked at.
