MotoGP 2021 British GP Betting Preview & Prediction

Written by on August 26, 2021

With two-thirds of the season in the books, it would be easy to call it a season, as it does look as though we have a clear favorite in MotoGP right now. Still, there are 6 races still to come and there is always the possibility that things could change dramatically in the coming weeks. The question right now is whether one of the chasing pack of riders can get hot over the final 6 races and make a run that takes them to the top of the standings. We have yet to see anyone really take the bull by the horns, but will that change this coming weekend in the UK? Only time will tell, but all we can do now is look at the current top 4 riders and how they might make out. Let’s jump right into action so you can bet against the MotoGP odds.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for the Monster Energy British Grand Prix

Fabio Quartararo +170

Quartararo is at the top of the rider standings heading into this weekend, sitting on 181 points. That has him 47 points ahead of the chasing pack, and while that is not an insurmountable lead, the bookies appear to be of the opinion that it might just be. There is a bit of a cautionary tale that needs to be looked at here, which is that Quartararo had a bit of a collapse in the late stages of 2020. He has 4 wins this season, but he is coming off a disappointing 7th in Austria in the last race. Will that run plant a seed of doubt in his head, or will he continue to pick up the points required to end the season as a champion?

Francesco Bagnaia +400

The chasing pack behind Quartararo are packed in tight, with just 2 points separating 2nd from 4th in the overall standings. Bagnaia is sitting on 134 points and closed the gap a little with a 2nd place finish in Austria, but he is probably going to need some wins to fully close that gap. The problem for Bagnaia is that he is yet to win a race at the MotoGP level, with this being his 3rd season. He does, though, have 4 podium finishes in 2021, so he is not totally off the pace. His last run in Britain came a couple of seasons ago, when he finished 11th.

Joan Mir +700

If the defending champion is to repeat in 2021, he is going to have to come from behind to do it. As it stands right now, Mir is sitting on the same 134 points as Bagnaia, but you do have to say that he looks the most likely to make a run given his past experience. Mir has been arguably the most consistent rider this season, not finishing worse than 9th in the 11 races run this season. Wins have eluded him to this point, though, although he did win it all last season with just 1 victory.

Johann Zarco +900

This is the 5th season in MotoGP for Zarco, and while he has certainly had some success, he has yet to pick up his first win at this level. That said, if he can maintain his current 4th place standing, or perhaps even move up a spot or two, it would be his best season overall. There is definitely the possibility of moving up, as Zarco is just 2 points back of both Bagnaia and Mir. His best run in the UK at the MotoGP level is 6th.
