Written by on June 3, 2021

We are now 6 races into the 2021 MotoGP season, which means that we are about one-third of the way into the new year. There are still 13 races to come, and a lot can change in that time, but it does look as though we have a clear favorite beginning to emerge. As we have seen in the past, though, riders can go through hot and cold spells during the course of a single season, so you can bet that no one is about to suggest that this thing is over by any stretch of the imagination. This weekend, MotoGP will be in Barcelona, Spain for the next race on the schedule, with the riders setting off the pace looking to edge a little closer to the top of the standings. Let’s take a closer look at the current top 4 so you can get ready to make your bets against their MotoGP odds.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for the  Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya

Fabio Quartararo

In just his 3rd full season in MotoGP, the Frenchman has emerged as the man to beat in 2021, but there is also a reason to be cautious before handing Quartararo the crown. Through the opening 6 races of the season, Quartararo has delivered 3 wins, which has him over 100 points in the overall standings and a nice lead at the top. It is worth noting, though, that he hit the 3-win mark at roughly the same time last season before falling apart and ending up 8th overall. This is a race that he has had success at, though, winning last year and finishing 2nd the year prior to that. Definitely has to be considered a threat.

Johann Zarco

Zarco is currently sitting 24 points off the pace being set by Quartararo at the top of the driver standings, but this race could have been that much closer had he not been forced to retire in Portugal. Those are some valuable points left out on the track, but if you take that race out of the equation, Zarco has been consistently good thus far. He does not have a win this season, but he has been on the podium in 3 of the 5 races he finished, while just missing out on the podium last weekend. He won this race in his final season in Moto2, but he has not been a major threat on this track at this level.

Francesco Bagnaia

One of the surprises of the season has been the performance of Bagnaia, whose previous best finish in MotoGP was 15th, which came a couple of years ago. Like Zarco, he could be in much better shape had it not been for the fact that he was forced to retire in Italy last weekend. It was a disappointing end to a promising weekend, but Bagnaia is still very much in the hunt. He is still looking for his first win at this level, but he has come close, landing on the podium 3 times thus far.

Jack Miller

The Aussie rider could well be one to watch even though he is sitting down in 4th at the moment. He started the season with a pair of top 10 finishes before being forced out in the 3rd race of the season. Things looked grim, but Miller bounced back in a big way, winning back-to-back races and then finishing 6th in Italy last weekend. He has finished 5th in each of his last 2 runs on this track.
