There are 9 races left in the MotoGP season, including the race this weekend in San Marino, and you could not ask for a tighter race at the top of the world standings. The lead at the top is now just 3 points, so expect the lead to perhaps change more than once in the coming weeks. With Marc Marquez missing most of the season to this point through injury, we just might see someone different win the championship this year, which makes things even more exciting. We are getting ahead of ourselves a little here, so let’s instead focus on the San Marino GP this weekend. Let’s take a closer look at the top 4 drivers in the current standings so you can wager on their MotoGP odds.

Gran Premio Lenovo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini | MotoGP

Fabio Quartararo

The Frenchman is still at the top of the standings with 70 points, but his lead has now been cut to 3 points. He has failed to build on his amazing start to the season, when he won each of the first 2 races of the season. In fact, it has been diminishing returns for Quartararo since those wins, with his 13th place finish at the Styrian Grand Prix last weekend being his worst showing of the season. He has not won the San Marino Grand Prix, but he did come close last season, when he took 2nd place. I think his top spot could be in jeopardy this weekend.

Andrea Dovizioso

The last couple of weeks have been very good to Dovizioso, as he had two very good appearances in Austria, which moved him to 67 points on the season. He picked up his first win of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, following that up with a 5th place finish at the Styrian Grand Prix. You have to think that he has a chance to improve on his point total in San Marino, as he won there a couple of seasons ago, while finishing 6th there last season. It would not be a surprise to see him on top once this race is over.

Jack Miller

It is perhaps a little unfortunate that Miller is not higher than 3rd at the moment, as he has been pretty consistent. Being forced to retire in the second race of the season certainly hurts a little bit, but outside of that, he has been strong. He had a pair of podium finishes in the two races in Austria, as well as a 4th place finish in the opening race in Spain. His best finish in San Marino at the MotoGP level is 6th, which came back in 2017. He is in good from, though, so he cannot be counted out.

Brad Binder

This was a big season for Binder, as he made the step up from Moto2, where he finished second overall last season, to MotoGP. It has been a smooth transition, though, as he already has a win, which came in the Czech Republic, and has done enough to be sitting in 4th in the driver standings. He does have a win in San Marino, but that came a few years ago when he was still in Moto3.
