San Antonio Spurs NBA Playoffs Game 1

NBA Playoffs Odds Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs

Written by on April 16, 2016

On Sunday night, the Memphis Grizzlies visit the San Antonio Spurs for the first game in their Western Conference quarterfinal round. A couple weeks ago, it seemed like the Grizzlies were going to fall all the way out of the playoffs thanks to season-ending injuries to Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, as well as an injury to Zach Randolph that affected him for two weeks. They met the Spurs, who have only lost one game at home all season long, and the team they lost to was the 73-win Golden State Warriors.

The San Antonio Spurs will try to score their sixth consecutive win over Memphis when they face off on Sunday in Game 1. The Spurs ‘ double digit odds as home favorites don’t come as a surprise, as the team takes an impressive 40-1 SU home record into Sunday night’s game.

Spurs vs. Grizzlies regular-season series

Spurs 4-0: Spurs 92-82, Spurs 103-83, Spurs 110-104, Spurs 101-87

Why should you bet on the Grizzlies?

If the Grizzlies had started the season with the roster they have now, they would not have made the playoffs. Without Conley and Gasol, they have to put players like Jordan Farmar, Xavier Munford and JaMychal Green onto the floor, and leave them out there for a lot of minutes. Even so, the return of Zach Randolph has energized the team, and the Grizzlies were able to cover the last time they played in San Antonio – before Randolph even returned. So this is a team that could cover against a double-digit line. Other than that, I wouldn’t take Memphis.

Why should you put your money on San Antonio?

The Spurs are a contradictory team when it comes to betting on their home performance. They did go 40-1 straight up at home this season, but in their last five home games they have gone 0-5 against the spread. It’s important to note that several of those games saw the starters resting, as the spurs’ coach, Greg Popovich, was giving those players some rest to help them get ready for the postseason. The Spurs have the depth to where a couple of their key players could be having off nights, but a LaMarcus Aldridge or a Kawhi Leonard could pick up the slack. Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction I don’t see the Spurs having any problems with Memphis, especially at home. I’m predicting a 112-91 Spurs win.
