Washington vs Denver NBA Odds Preview

Written by on March 11, 2016

As the NBA season starts to head into the final few weeks, there are a number of teams who are starting to think about their situation and the math equations that could add up to their season coming to an end. The sad fact of the matter for a few teams is that the number of games they have left is getting a little too close to the number of games they need to make up to get into a playoff spot. Two teams who are starting to slide perilously close to that position are the Washington Wizards and the Denver Nuggets, both of whom are on the outside looking on at the playoff picture in their respective conferences. That makes their match-up on Saturday night a crucial one, as neither of these teams can really afford to take many more losses before the math starts to work against them. Be sure to get your NBA online betting wagers on before the opening tip of this one.

Why bet on the Washington Wizards

The Wizards (30-33) are in for a real fight if they hope to get into the playoffs, and it’s beginning to look as though they may not be up for it. They have lost 3 straight games, and are now 2.5 games back of that final spot. The Wizards have not had a lot of luck against teams from the Western Conference, going 9-13 so far this season, but they are a very solid 17-5 versus other teams in the league with a record below .500. The last time Washington made the trip to Denver, they came away with a 117-115 OT win, but they did lose to the Nuggets in their only other meeting this season. This is getting close to must win territory for the Wizards, and their record versus opponents with a losing record suggests they may be able to pull it out. The Wizards are averaging 102.7 PPG, and are giving up 104.5 PPG.

Why bet on the Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets (27-38) have a much more difficult task ahead of them, but are at least making a move in the right direction. Denver are 5.5 games back of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but have been able to close the gap a little by winning their last 3 games. Al of those recent wins came on home court, and this will be the last chance for Denver to pad their stats in their own building before they head out on the road. The Nuggets have not been as good against teams with a losing record, going a game below .500 overall, but they do already have a win over the Wizard this season. Denver are averaging 101.9 PPG, and are giving up 104.2 PPG

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The recent meetings between these two have all been close affairs, and I think we can expect more of the same here. I’m giving the edge to the Nuggets because o the home court advantage.
