Men’s College Basketball Betting Picks & Options for the Weekend Action

Friday 12/9/22: Washington at Gonzaga (-17)

Gonzaga is being unfairly labeled as one of the most disappointing teams in the nation this season. If we are being honest, the Bulldogs are only guilty of not being one of the top two teams in the country, which we have become accustomed to of the last two years. While Gonzaga has dropped three of their first nine games, two of those have come against title contenders Texas and Purdue, while the third came against the best backcourt in the country in Baylor.

While the Huskies boast a record of 7-2 on the season, Washington has played just a single true road game and fell to lowly Oregon State. Mike Hopkins’ club is just 5-4 against the spread this season, while Gonzaga is just 2-7. The Bulldogs have a margin of victory number of over 27 points per game since the 2017 season, so a regression to the mean is likely. Mark Few’s club should get right in this game behind a big game from Timme against an undersized Washington frontcourt.

Saturday 12/10/22: Arkansas (-3) at Oklahoma

While this game is listed as a neutral site matchup, it’s being played in Tulsa, OK. That is basically a home game for the Sooners, who are one of the more surprising teams in the nation this season. Porter Moser’s team is 7-1 since falling to Sam Houston State to start the season, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Villanova on the Wildcats home court.

Arkansas is a talented team but also a young team. While they are a top 25 team in the nation, their level of competition has been far from extraordinary. To date, Arkansas’s best win is against San Diego State who hasn’t been overly impressive this season themselves. The Razorbacks are also playing without Trevon Brazile for the rest of the season after the highlight reel feeding forward tore his knee up in their last game.

Sunday 12/11/22: Oklahoma State vs Virginia Tech (-1)

This matchup takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and shouldn’t be heavily favored from a crowd standpoint. What should be heavily favored is the Hokies in this matchup. Mike Young and Virginia Tech are one of the most undervalued teams in the nation right now. Oklahoma native Sean Pedulla is leading this Hokies club in both scoring and assists while forward Grant Basile has completely filled the void left by Keve Alluma. This team has won four consecutive games since falling to Charleston, including victories over former number-one North Carolina and an injury-riddled Dayton squad.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are also a quality club but have yet to register a victory over a team that moves the needle. It is unlikely that they are going to land that first quality win in a neutral site game against a team that has been rolling over the last two weeks.
