College Basketball Betting for February 17th: 2 Great Matches to Wager On

Another weak Friday evening basketball slate is almost upon us, but there are some really nice-looking College Basketball picks available. Here are some of the easiest money-making opportunities you will see all season long.

College Basketball Best Bets for Friday, February 17th

Eastern Michigan Eagles at Kent State Golden Flashes

When: Feb 17
Where: Memorial Athletic & Convocation Center, Kent, Ohio

Time: 6:00 PM EST
TV: CBSSN

The spread is not yet available, but if it is within reason, take Kent State to cover the number. The Golden Flashes are the best team in the Mid-American Conference at home, with a 10-0 record straight up on the season. Rob Senderhoff’s club is outperforming the spread at home by +3.8 points per contest, while their margin of victory is over 16 points per game.

Kent State defeated the Eagles 77-63 on the road on January 17th, and a repeat performance is likely given how each team is currently trending. The Golden Flashes are well on their way to an NCAA tournament berth, while Eastern Michigan is just 6-20 on the season.

The Eagles are not horrendous against the spread overall on the season with an 11-14 record ATS and have even split the season as a road dog at 6-6 ATS. They had even been playing well lately, covering six consecutive games before getting torched by 27 points at home against Akron on Valentine’s Day. Eastern Michigan star Emoni Bates has struggled mightily over his last two games, shooting just 5-30 from the field for the Eagles.

Wright State Raiders at Cleveland State Vikings

When: Feb 17
Where: Henry J. Goodman Arena, Cleveland

Time: 7:00 PM EST
TV: ESPN U

Once upon a time, Cleveland State was an auto fade when it came to college basketball wagering. Dennis Gates changed all that during his tenure, and it appears that Daniyal Robinson is continuing the recently established culture. The Vikings are an impressive 16-11 this season and a real competitor in the Horizon League.

Coach Robinson has his work cut out for him in Friday’s matchup against Wright State. Raiders coach Scott Nagy has turned Wright State into a perennial contender in the league, and one thing they are doing well this season is performing on the road. The Raiders are 6-4 straight up on the road this season with a 7-3 record ATS away from home. They are outperforming the number by +4.3 points per contest though their average margin of victory is an eyebrow-raising +4.2 points.

Cleveland State may be having a winning season, but they are not defending their homecourt particularly well from a wagering standpoint. The Vikings are 10-3 SU at home this season which is excellent, but two of those victories have come against non-division one programs. Against the spread, Cleveland State is just 5-6 on their home court while performing right along with the spread at +0.2 points per contest.

The Vikings had failed to cover in four consecutive contests before their cover prior to the Youngstown State upset. There is typically a letdown following a big win, such as the one over the Penguins, and following that upset up with a team such as Wright State suggests a Raiders cover on the road.
