No. 11 Loyola-Chicago pulled off another upset by taking out seventh-seeded Nevada 69-68 on Thursday and now the Ramblers head to the Elite Eight, having won three tourney games by a combined four total points. “He was a warrior,” Loyola-Chicago head coach Porter Moser said. Townes, who finished with a team-high 18 points, flashed a series of huge fist pumps while running down the court afterward. “I’ll probably remember it for the rest of my life,” Townes said. “I mean, it doesn’t really get any better than that.” Loyola-Chicago shot a blistering 55.8 percent from the field while limiting Nevada to just 41.4 percent shooting. The Ramblers got 15 points apiece from Clayton Custer and Aundre Jackson in the win. Kansas State pulled out a gritty 61-58 win over Kentucky as Bobby Brown made a difficult layup with 18 seconds remaining in regulation and the Wildcats got a team-high 22 points from Xavier Sneed to pull off the big upset in their NCAA South Regional semifinal clash. “He’s the guy you’ve got to go through. He can make plays,” K-State coach Bruce Weber said of Brown. “He missed a couple of them there down the stretch, but he made a big one at the end.” An understated Brown talked about his big basket afterward. “We knew they were going to try to block the shot with their length,” Brown said. “They were blocking shots all night. Once I got away from my guy, I just wanted to go to the basket.”

Expert March Madness Elite 8 Betting Pick

For the first pick of my two-game parlay, I’m going with Loyola-Chicago to beat K-State to keep their improbable March Madness run alive. First and foremost, the Ramblers are an elite defensive team that ranked fifth in the nation in points allowed (62.2 ppg). More importantly, they’re playing with a level of confidence that clearly shows they believe they can beat anyone. The Ramblers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and a bankroll-boosting 5-1 ATS in their last six games against teams from the Big 12. Despite their impressive tourney so far, Kansas State is an awful 3-9 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games. Combine that with the fact that Loyola-Chicago is mature and focused and I like the Ramblers to pull off another big win in this contest.

No. 9 Florida State Seminoles vs No. 3 Michigan Wolverines

Florida State pounded the hell out of No. 4 Gonzaga in their 75-60 West Region semifinal win on Thursday night. Junior guard Terrance Mann scored a team-high 18 points to help the ninth-seeded Seminoles advance to the Elite Eight for just the third time in school history. Mann was the only double-digit scorer for the Seminoles, but Florida State had five players score at least seven points and completely harassed Gonzaga by forcing the Bulldogs into a horrific 33.9 percent shooting night while blocking nine shot and recording eight steals. The Seminoles beat their third straight higher-seeded opponent in the Tournament and snapped Gonzaga’s 16-game winning streak in the process. Michigan jumped all over seventh-seeded Texas A&M from the outset to lead 52-28 at the half and from there, they never looked back. The Wolverines shot a blistering 62 percent from the field and routed the Aggies 99-72 in the West Region semifinals on Thursday night to advance to the Elite Eight for the third time in six years. Michigan hit 10 three-pointers in the first half and extended their winning streak to a dozen games. Michigan is the favorite, but the Wolverines shouldn't be your March Madness Elite 8 Betting pick. “Felt like we ran into a buzz saw,” Aggies coach Billy Kennedy said. “It seemed like everything they shot went in.” Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman scored a team-high 24 points in the win while Moe Wagner added 21 points and Charles Matthews chipped in18 points as third-seeded Michigan had five players in double figures. Abdur-Rahkman made four 3-pointers in the win while adding five rebounds and seven assists. “This senior right here played his tail off in every single way,” coach John Beilein said.

Expert March Madness Elite 8 Pick

For this Elite Eight showdown, I’m going with Florida State to pull off the upset over No. 3 Michigan. I know the Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight-up win and 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600, but Florida State is an unblemished 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games. More importantly, the Seminoles have a bunch of athletic guys that can all score the ball when called upon, plus they’ve got a huge chip on their shoulders. Michigan lucked up in the second round to get past Houston, now, I think a little payback is in order!
