After five grueling months, we’ve finally arrived at the Final Four! The four teams that will be playing in New Orleans have combined to win 17 National Championships.
Duke, North Carolina, Villanova, and Kansas are four of the “blue blood” programs in college basketball today. Having these four teams in the Final Four could make this one of the most competitive final weekends in tournament history. Let’s have a look at the Villanova Wildcats and how they arrive to the Final Four round so you can bet against their March Madness Odds.
NCAA March Madness Final Four Betting: Villanova Wildcats Analysis, Odds & Prediction
Wildcats Will Take on Kansas
In the first game of the Final Four, the Villanova Wildcats will take on the Kansas Jayhawks. The Wildcats come into this one with a 30-7 overall record.
The winner of the Big East Tournament, Villanova, has been a fixture in the top 10 for most of the season. They are led by the two-time Big East Player of the Year, Collin Gillespie.
Villanova is a +600 to win the National Championship and are 4.5-point underdogs in their game against Kansas. The Villanova program has made it to six Final Fours.
This is the 10th-most in NCAA history. Entering this Final Four, Villanova has won two of the last six NCAA Tournaments. They’re currently on a nine-game winning streak and are playing their best basketball of the season.
Villanova Led By Head Coach Jay Wright
One of the reasons that Villanova is always a title contender is because of their head coach, Jay Wright. Wright is arguably the best coach in college basketball today.
He recruits the kind of players that fit his system, and he gets the most out of his players. His style of play and his focus on fundamentals makes Villanova a national powerhouse.
Teams that rank highly in the KenPom rankings usually do well in the NCAA Tournament. This holds true for Villanova. They’re ranked in the top 10 in offensive efficiency and in the top 20 in defensive efficiency.
They rank ninth overall in the KenPom efficiency rankings. They’re very good on both ends of the floor, and they make very few mistakes.
Villanova will have the most experienced team left in the field. Many of Jay Wright’s players, including Gillespie, have taken advantage of the extra year of eligibility and are in their fifth season.
While All-Big East guard and Villanova’s second-leading scorer, Justin Moore, will be out due to injury, Villanova will still have plenty of firepower.
Villanova Relies On The Three-point Shot
Villanova relies heavily on the three-point shot, and they have shot it well throughout most of the season. The Wildcats are also one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country.
As a matter of fact, their team’s free throw percentage of 83.3 leads the nation. This could come in big in a close-game situation.
The injury to Moore is a huge loss for the Villanova Wildcats. With the Kansas Jayhawks playing well, we don’t think that Villanova will be able to outlast the Jayhawks. Although Gillespie and the experienced Wildcats will put up a good fight, we’re leaning towards taking Kansas in this one.
We don’t think that Kansas covers the spread, but they’ll beat Villanova 64-61, ending a great season by Jay Wright’s squad.
