#13 Musketeers vs #19 Huskies Betting Pick, Wake Forest vs Pittsburgh Prediction

The Wednesday college basketball slate is an absolutely huge one with big-time games that influence conferences all over the country with high-level matchups. Here are a couple of games that should be on your radar, so you can place your bets against their NCAA Basketball Odds

Men’s NCAA Basketball Betting Picks & Options for Wednesday, Jan. 25th Games

Xavier Musketeers at Connecticut Huskies (-9)

Both of these programs have faltered recently, but fboth have put together a body of work that should not be overlooked. From a wagering standpoint, a Xavier loss on the road to a conference opponent should be far less concerning than the Huskies dropping five of their last seven games. A victory over Butler by a ton doesn’t necessarily wipe away all the concerns their recent struggles brought to the surface.

The reason for this line being so bloated is a mystery. Xavier is not experiencing any type of injury concerns and certainly has a frontcourt that is capable of (at the very least) hanging with Connecticut. For this spread to be nearly double figures feels like a bit of an overreaction to the DePaul loss and not “dominating” a very poor Georgetown team.

Look for Connecticut to even up the season series and avenge an earlier loss here. This is going to be another close, hard-fought Big East Conference matchup that is not deserving of a double-digit spread. While Connecticut’s frontcourt may receive a lot of the publicity this Xavier trio of forwards is one of the best groups in the country.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Pittsburgh Panthers (-4)

To get right to it, this Pittsburgh Panthers team has felt fraudulent this entire season. Don’t look now, but just as everyone was starting to jump on board the Jeff Capel bandwagon, the Panthers have dropped three of their last five games. For the Panthers, it could be said that their success boils down to a single player, that being Nike Sibande. In Pittsburgh’s seven losses this season, the 6’4 senior has TOTALED just 18 points.

Something that may happen without the attention of casual fans in the season that super senior Tyree Appleby is having for the Demon Deacons. The former Florida and Cleveland State guard has scored in double figures in all but two games this season and is averaging 17.6 points and 7.4 assists over his last eight games.

Another player that may be flying under the radar is Wake Forest’s Damari Monsanto, who is one of the streakiest shooters in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 6’6 junior forward hit seven triples in the Deacon’s loss to Virginia. Monsanto has logged four games with five or more three-pointers hit in his last nine games, including two with six made threes.

Neither one of these teams are particularly stellar on defense, so the over could also be a play here. The Panthers have been one of the better ACC teams at home this season, covering in seven of their eleven home games on the season, but they have lost their last two straight up against Florida State and Clemson.
