Betting on TCU vs West Virginia NCAA Hoops

Written by on February 10, 2016

Despite snapping a 7-game Big 12 skid with the 63-56 win over Oklahoma State on Monday night, life hasn’t been easy for the TCU Horned Frogs this season, something that is affirmed by their 11-13 overall record along with a 2-9 conference mark (second worst in the Big 12). For the No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers, the opposite is true in the NCAAB odds, where they spot 19-5 overall record along with an 8-3 conference mark (tied for best record in the Big 12 standings). What can be expected when these two polar opposite conference rivals meet for the second time this season?  Here’s a recap of the previous game back on January 4th.

Why Bet on TCU

It has been a largely forgettable season for the Frogs, who’ve struggled at nearly every attempt to make a leap in the top-heavy Big 12 conference. Two conference wins (both coming at home) is all they have to show for their season thus far. The Horned Frogs can, however, take a lot of confidence from the manner in which they played a balanced game on both sides of the floor to rally past Cowboys. Brandon Parrish led four TCU players in double figures with 15 points, while the defense made a number of key stops to put away Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers are an entirely different team, so a much better performance will be required from them this weekend. It doesn’t look promising for the road-shaky Frogs that have lost all but one of their road trips season. Even so, TCU showed grit and fighting in the first meeting against WVU earlier in the season, a 95-87 home loss, so a similar display could easily give them a chance for an unlikely upset over the Mountaineers.

Why Bet on Western Virginia

The No.2 Mountaineers are coming off a 75-65 road loss to the No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday, a defeat that created a three-way 8-3 tie of Oklahoma, WVU, and Kansas at helm of the Big 12 Conference. That defeat is, however, nothing to be ashamed about, as they Jayhawks are the best home team in the nation, having not lost any of their last 38 home outings, so it’s not like the Mountaineers were expected to win in Kansas anyway.Back to Saturday’s game, West Virginia has lost just two of its home games this season, underlining just how solid they have been when playing in Morgantown. In addition to their solid home record, the #PressVirginia style of play that loves to utilize the full-court press and attack in numbers has been extremely efficient in wearing down WVU’s opponents, with West Virginia allowing just 65.8 PPG (45th in the nation) and scoring 80.3 PPG (32nd in the nation). This balanced efficiency, along with the fact that the Mountaineers already took down TCU earlier in the season, should be more than enough motivation for WVU to claim a home win this weekend.
