The Tennessee Titans at least know they have their future at quarterback in Marcus Mariota, last year’s No. 2 overall pick who was excellent as a rookie albeit a bit injury prone. So while he looks like a keeper, there are still a lot of holes on this team. The Titans have a wins total of 5.5 on NFL odds for this year.

Total Win/Loss Odds Overview

The Titans finished just 3-13 last year, one win better than 2014. A 38-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 18 stands out. The 28-point margin of defeat was tied for the most lopsided loss of the season, but more importantly, Mariota was knocked out of the game with a sprained MCL on a low hit from Miami defensive end Olivier Vernon. Mariota missed the next two games. On the bright side, that record earned the Titans the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft, although they traded it to the Los Angeles Rams to stock up on extra picks.

Mariota threw 19 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions to give Tennessee fans hope they’ve found their quarterback of the future. Among his many superlatives, Mariota became the first player since Walter Payton in 1983 to throw, run and catch touchdowns of more than 40 yards in a season. This offseason, Mariota added five pounds to his 6-foot- 4 frame, and is now closer to 225 pounds. He’s looked stronger, and more confident. The Titans have been pleased with his progress, but cleaning up things at the line of scrimmage and being more accurate throwing the deep ball are among the things on his preseason checklist.Tight end Delanie Walker posted the best season of his 10-year career, catching 94 passes for 1,088 yards and six touchdowns. The 31-year- old became Mariota’s favorite target and led the Titans in receiving.Tennessee should be set at running back. The Titans traded with the Eagles for DeMarco Murray, the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in Dallas in 2014 when he led the league in rushing. Then the team drafted Derrick Henry, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama.

Why Betting On The Under?

The Titans seem to be in a transitional phase at the wide receiver position. Kendall Wright had a really disappointing, injury-plagued 2015. And who exactly is Dorial Green-Beckham? The Titans knew this would be a boom-or- bust pick and it was made before new general manager Jon Robinson took the reins. That means either Green-Beckham starts to soar — his 32 catches and four touchdowns were a nice start, and the addition of Rishard Matthews should help free him from double coverage — and is the focal point of Tennessee’s passing game, or he’s going to be handed a sled and taught how to block.If Green-Beckham continues to struggle with the playbook and run incorrect routes, he will find himself on the sideline and will be yet another Titans wide receiver who failed to reach his ceiling. It’s not a very flashy group, with Harry Douglas, Wright, Matthews, Justin Hunter and rookie Tajae Sharpe.The secondary is shaky. Both Coty Sensabaugh and Michael Griffin have moved on this offseason, leaving two holes to plug in the secondary. The GM Robinson was able to bring in two veterans in Brice McCain and Rashad Johnson, which may actually turn out to be an upgrade.What about left tackle Taylor Lewan? When Lewan took over in 2014, he had an amazingly encouraging start. It looked as if the Titans had left tackle locked down for the next decade. However, last year, he disappointed. All offseason, the rumor was that he would lose his job at left tackle, and moved over to the right side. However, the Titans opted to keep him at his position. Now, entering Year 3, he needs to make the jump.
