How to Bet Tampa Bay at Green Bay NFL Lines & Week 13 Analysis

Written by on November 30, 2017

Both the Tampa Bay Bucs and Green Bay Packers still have wild-card hopes. The loser of Sunday’s game at Lambeau likely can forget about the playoffs in 2017 – especially if it’s the Bucs. But they will get their starting QB back this week, which could affect the NFL lines for Week 13.

Last Meeting

In Week 16 of the 2014 season, the Bucs lost at home to Green Bay 20-3. Aaron Rodgers threw for 318 yards and one touchdown and Eddie Lacy scored on a 44-yard run for the Packers. Neither will play for Green Bay in this one (Lacy is with Seattle now). Jordy Nelson caught a 1-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter and had nine receptions for 113 yards, while Rodgers completed 11 throws to Randall Cobb for 131 yards. Josh McCown was the Tampa QB that day – the loss would help earn the Bucs the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, in which they took Jameis Winston. The Packers are 31-21-1 against the former divisional foe Bucs in the regular season and 1-0 in the postseason. Dating back to 1990, Green Bay is 14-1 at home versus Tampa Bay (including playoffs). Each of the last six home contests against the Buccaneers have been decided by single digits, including four by three or fewer points. It is Tampa Bay’s first December trip to Lambeau since 2000.

Why Bet On Tampa Bay?

The Bucs had a two-game winning streak snapped last week in a 34-20 loss in Atlanta. Starting his third straight game in place of an injured Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 27-of-44 passes for 283 yards. Fitzpatrick, who had zero touchdowns or interceptions, added two rushes for 20 yards. With Doug Martin (concussion) injured early, Fitzpatrick spent the entire day throwing. Mike Evans caught 6-of-12 targets for 78 yards. Evans’ 12 targets matched his season high, but he still couldn’t find the end zone for the first time in five weeks. Fitzpatrick will return to the bench here with Winston ready off a shoulder injury. It will mark the first time in nearly three months that Winston has gone into a game healthy. He originally banged up his shoulder in Week 6 and then tried to play through it over the next several weeks before Coach Dirk Koetter finally made the decision to bench Winston so the shoulder could heal. This will be Winston’s first game as a starter since controversy started whirling around him in mid-November after an Uber driver made a sexual assault allegation against him. The Bucs will be missing a few key guys, though. Martin remains in the league’s concussion protocol. Look for Jacquizz Rodgers and Peyton Barber to mix in on early downs, while Charles Sims handles the bulk of the pass-down. In addition, starting offensive linemen Demar Dotson and Ali Marpet were both placed on season-ending IR. They’re the Bucs’ top two offensive linemen, as Marpet was Pro Football Focus’ No. 6 center, and Dotson is the site’s No. 2 right tackle. Dotson is PFF’s No. 1 overall tackle in pass protection out of 80 qualifiers.

Why Bet On Green Bay?

Since 2013, the warm-weather Bucs have gone 1-8 in December road games, and their only win came in warm San Diego. This year, the Bucs are 1-5 on the road and 1-4-1 ATS. The only time the Bucs covered the spread on the road this year came with Fitzpatrick at QB. Green Bay played well on Sunday night but lost 31-28 in Pittsburgh as Brett Hundley continues to start for the injured Rodgers, who can’t return until Week 15. Hundley completed 17-of-26 passes for 245 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He threw for an early touchdown pass to Randall Cobb who was wide-open after the Steelers blew their coverage. The second touchdown pass was on a third-down screen to RB Jamaal Williams. His last touchdown came on a deep throw to Davante Adams for 55 yards. Are the Packers a safe bet in Week 13? Williams rushed 21 times for 66 yards and a touchdown, adding four receptions for 69 yards and an additional touchdown.  Since Aaron Jones went down with a knee injury on Nov. 12, his replacement, Williams, ranks sixth among all NFL running backs in total yards from scrimmage. In the four weeks before that, when Jones was the Packers’ No. 1 running back, he ranked sixth among all NFL running backs in rushing yards. It’s not likely that Jones returns this week. The Packers have registered a takeaway in 10 of 11 games this season, including each of the last nine. Green Bay is tied for No. 1 in the NFL in games with at least one takeaway this season. Green Bay has won the turnover battle in six of the last eight games, recording a turnover margin of plus-seven over that span.
