The Houston Texans lead the AFC South by a half-game despite a 6-5 record and some horrendous QB play from Brock Osweiler. Both he and the team have been awful on the road this season with the Texans visiting Green Bay on Sunday. The Packers (5-6) are solid NFL betting favorites.

Why Bet on Houston?

The Texans lost 21-13 to San Diego last Sunday, the Texans’ first home loss of the year. Osweiler was 22- for-37 for 246 yards, with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He had a passer rating of 45.6, his lowest of the season. Though Osweiler did not throw a touchdown, he did score the Texans’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second quarter.Osweiler has struggled this season, completing just 59.5 percent of his passes for an average of 5.8 yards per attempt. He has 12 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. But Coach Bill O'Brien says he won’t bench his QB for Tom Savage. O’Brien said that though Osweiler has struggled, he wanted to point out that it is not just on his quarterback.“Obviously, the head coach and the quarterback take the most criticism when you lose, that’s the nature of the business and we all understand that — but there are 11 guys on the field,” O’Brien said. “There’s an offensive line, there’s running backs, there’s receivers, there’s tight ends.”One area where Osweiler’s struggles are especially apparent is his inability to throw downfield. This season, he has completed just 26 percent of passes that are thrown 15 or more yards past the line of scrimmage, which is the lowest among qualified quarterbacks. Because of his inability to throw downfield, Osweiler has not been able to connect with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins, who had 111 catches for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns last season while catching passes from four different quarterbacks, has just 55 catches for 610 yards and three touchdowns.Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited at Wednesday’s practice. Miller appeared to tweak his ankle late in Sunday’s loss to San Diego but his presence at practice suggests he’ll be good to for Week 13. TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (shoulder) was limited at Wednesday’s practice. He’s been nursing a shoulder injury in recent weeks but isn’t in danger of missing Sunday's game against Green Bay. Fiedorowicz has drawn at least seven targets in five of his last seven games.

Why Bet on Green Bay?

The Packers completed a three-game road trip at 1-2 following Monday’s 27-13 win over Philadelphia that ended a four-game losing streak. Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes to Davante Adams. Rodgers had 313 yards passing and Adams had 113 yards receiving to help send Philadelphia to its first home loss this season.Jordy Nelson caught 8-of- 12 targets for 91 yards. His dozen targets led the team on Monday night, and it was Nelson’s fifth game with 10-plus looks. Green Bay gave up at least 30 points in each of its previous four games, including 89 in the last two. But the defense shut down the Eagles’ inconsistent offense.Rodgers tweaked his hamstring Monday but isn’t in danger of sitting this one out. Rodgers’ calf injury in 2014 changed the way coach Mike McCarthy game-planned and called plays. His hamstring injury night shouldn’t impact the Packers’ offense nearly as much. After Rodgers came up limping in the third quarter and then had his left leg taped, he never ran again. He finished with six rushes but the four meaningful ones, including a read-option carry, all came before the injury. The final two were game-ending kneel downs.Rodgers has multiple passing touchdowns in six straight games, the second-longest active streak in the NFL (Marcus Mariota, eight). Green Bay has had one or more players register 10-plus receptions and/or 100-plus receiving yards in eight of the last nine games. The Packers have scored 23 or more points in eight of the last nine games.Under McCarthy, the Packers are 8-5 in games played the week after appearing on Monday Night Football, including wins in six of the last eight. Green Bay is 18-3 (.857) at home in the month of December under McCarthy, tied with New England for No. 1 in the NFL since 2006.This will be the fourth overall meeting between the two franchises. Green Bay holds a 2-1 advantage in the series.
