The San Francisco 49ers are pretty clearly the second-worst team in the NFL behind the Cleveland Browns and it’s hard to see the Niners end their seven-game losing streak on Sunday at Arizona, which already clobbered the Niners earlier this season. The Cards are the biggest favorites in NFL betting for Week 10.

The 49ers (1-7) lost at home to New Orleans 41-23 last Sunday. Colin Kaepernick had a 47-yard TD pass to DeJuan Harris and a 65-yard touchdown pass to Vance McDonald just before halftime, when New Orleans led 31-20. In Kaepernick’s third game back as starter, he had his best game yet: He became the 15th player in franchise history to rush for 2,000 yards and went 24 of 39 for 398 yards passing — second most yards of his career. 49ers top running back Carlos Hyde missed his second straight game with a shoulder injury.New Orleans finished with a whopping 571 yards of offense while averaging 7 yards per play. The 49ers kept alive their streak of allowing 100-yard rushers; Mark Ingram became the seventh back in a row to exceed the century mark with 158 yards on 15 carries. No other team in the NFL has allowed more than three 100-yard rushers this season.49ers coach Chip Kelly said Hyde’s playing status will be determined on Saturday. He has missed the past two games with an injured AC joint in his right shoulder. “He’ll go through just like he did last week,” Kelly said. "It’s really range of motion and Carlos’ comfort level." Harris would start again if Hyde is out. Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch and cornerback Rashard Robinson have yet to return to any practice.Lynch has a high-ankle sprain, while Robinson is nursing a knee sprain. And defensive lineman Arik Armstead has been lost for the year. His shoulder injury had been something he was dealing with since training camp. He managed it by wearing a harness in games but he apparently aggravated it enough in last week’s loss. Armstead, the team’s 2015 first-round pick, posted 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in eight games with four starts this season.

Why Bet on Arizona?

The Cardinals (3-4- 1) come off their bye week. According to the ESPN NFL Football Power Index, the Cardinals have a 31.9 percent chance of making the playoffs. Given that Arizona has one of the league’s best running backs, David Johnson, who is fourth in the league with 705 rushing yards, don’t be surprised if the Cardinals look to run the ball as often as they can against that terrible 49ers’ run defense. The Cardinals, who have 10 players on season-ending injured reserve, lost two more starters during their last game at Carolina. Left tackle Jared Veldheer sustained a torn biceps tendon and all-purpose safety Tyrann Mathieu suffered a shoulder subluxation that is expected to keep him out for another week or two. Arizona ranks fourth in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing just 17.5 points per game. The Cardinals are fifth in the league with 15 takeaways this season. They also own the third-ranked pass defense.Sunday’s home game against the Niners will be the Cardinals’ last reprieve before a brutal finishing slate: five of seven on the road, including three 1 p.m. ET kickoffs and a visit to Seattle.Arizona topped San Francisco on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 5, 33-21. The 49ers held Drew Stanton to 124 passing yards, but were gashed in the ground game by Johnson, who tallied 157 yards and two touchdowns. It will be Carson Palmer under center this time around for the Cardinals after a concussion kept him out of the first game. San Francisco has lost four of the last five meetings. The 49ers last victory in Arizona came in 2013.Generic Banner
