Denver Broncos as Super Bowl 50 Betting Underdogs

Should You Bet On Denver To Win SB 50 As A 6-point Underdog?

Written by on February 1, 2016

We are now in the final few days before Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. A  lot of people will have already made their bet for the game, but there are probably a whole lot more who are still trying to decide which way to go. As it stands right now, the Carolina Panthers will enter the Super Bowl as a 6-point favorite over the Denver Broncos. Given how things have gone this season, that seems like a pretty fair line, but that doesn’t mean that the Broncos can’t spring the upset. Let’s look at why the Broncos might just be a good bet as an underdog.

Why You Should Bet On Denver As A 6-Point Underdog

There were a lot of people who looked at the Broncos as a potential Super Bowl favorite heading into the season, but that soon changed after a few short weeks. It looked as though Peyton Manning had made the wrong decision in coming back to play for another year, and when he went down with a long-term injury, the feeling was that the Broncos would simply fold with Brock Osweiler at the helm. That never happened, and Denver finished the season as the top seed in the AFC Conference. Through the regular season and the playoffs, Denver were given the underdog label on 5 different occasions, and they covered every single time.

Don’t Count Out The Broncos Defense to Win the SB50

Everyone who has even a passing interest in football will be aware of just how good the Carolina Panthers offense has looked this season. If anything, they seem to have stepped it up a notch in the postseason, scoring 80 points in their 2 games. What we all have to remember is that people love offense, and that is why big scoring teams get so many of the headlines. Defenses can often go unheralded, but it is usually defenses that win championships. The Broncos defense was among the best in the league all season long, and the fact that they were able to hold the Steelers and the Patriots to a combined 34 points in the postseason tells you all you need to know about this group. If they can rise up one more time, they can certainly keep this game close.

Peyton Manning is Always a Factor

Barring some sort of miracle, this is probably going to be Peyton Manning’s final game as an NFL player. He has had a remarkable career, but there are some who say that it is somewhat tainted by his only winning a single Super Bowl ring. There are also plenty of people who feel that his career has a bit of a black mark against it because of the way he has played this season. Yes, this has not been vintage Manning, but he seems to be a man on a mission in the playoffs. He has found a way to cut out the INT’s and mistakes that plagued him in the early part of the season, and he is now making throws that are keeping drives alive and frustrating the Bronco’s opponents. That style of play could well be what slows down the Panthers.
