Top Quartet Of NFL SU Expert Picks During Week 8

Written by on October 25, 2016

If you want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, well, don’t ask either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton! All attempts at humor side, if you want the straight-up truth and you’re looking to take the guesswork out of some Week 8 NFL matchups, my quartet of Week 8 SU picks are just what the doctor ordered. Let’s get started in the Lone Star State.

Top Quartet Of NFL SU Expert Picks During Week 8

Detroit at Houston

When: Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: NRG Stadium Odds: N/A TV: FOX Analysis: Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions are making my preseason prediction of a postseason appearance look pretty good right now, even though I’ll be the first person to admit that I didn’t actually know how mediocre new Houston starter Brock Osweiler is. The former backup in Denver, who signed a huge free agent deal with Houston in the offseason, looked like a high school freshman in Monday Night’s 27-9 loss against his former team. The 6-8 signal-caller was limited to 22 of 41 passing for 131 yards and no touchdowns and fumbled in the fourth quarter to seal Houston’s fate. Conversely, Matthew Stafford has played like a completely new man in leading Detroit to three straight wins coming into this contest. The Lions are the far more explosive team in this matchup and right now, equally as good defensively. Even on the road, the Lions are the pick to win outright over  Texans team that his clearly taken a step backwards from the consecutive nine-win teams they fielded in each of the last two seasons. Pick: Detroit Moneyline Win

Seattle at New Orleans

When: Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome Odds: Seattle -2.5 TV: FOX Analysis: The Seattle Seahawks couldn’t find the end zone against the Arizona Cardinals, but they also kept their NFC West rivals out of the end zone as well. Still, the Seahawks will have their hands full against Drew Brees and a New Orleans Saints team that ranks third in the league in scoring at 29.3 points per game. Still, with the Saints ranking dead last in points allowed (32.5 ppg), I like Russell Wilson and the Seahawks to get the outright rod win. Seattle should be able to have their way against New Orleans’ pitiful defense while simultaneously slowing down Brees and company just enough to make a narrow road win stand up. Seattle has won three straight over New Orleans dating back to 2011 and will make it four in a row by handling the Saints on Sunday! Pick: Seahawks Moneyline Win

NY Jets at Cleveland

When: Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: FirstEnergy Stadium Odds: N/A TV: CBS Analysis: The New York Jets might be a complete mess this season, but they’re still the pick to get past a Cleveland Browns team that will be using its sixth starting quarterback in this Week 8 matchup. After naming mediocre backup Geno Smith the starter, the Jets had to turn back to starter Ryan Fitzpatrick after Smith got injured. Poof, gone was the interception-tossing Ryan and in his place was the steady veteran that earned New York’s starting job in the first place. Now, with Fitzpatrick apparently set to start this contest, I say the desperate Jets take down a Cleveland Browns team that is not only winless right now, but forced to turn to rookie signal-caller Kevin Hogan for this contest. With Cleveland ranking 30th in points allowed (29.5 ppg), the Jets should have their way while Todd Bowles’ aggressive defense should force Hogan into a couple of costly turnovers. Pick: Jets Moneyline Win

Green Bay at Atlanta

When: Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: Georgia Dome Odds: Atlanta -3 TV: FOX Analysis: Despite their Week 7 win over Chicago, I’m here to inform NFL betting enthusiasts everywhere that something just isn’t right about Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers this season. Green Bay is ranked an uncharacteristic 15th in scoring this season and that just won’t cut it against a Falcons tem that has looked very legitimate all season long. With Matt Ryan and the Falcons dropping their last two games in heartbreaking fashion, – and falling apart after last season’s 5-0 start – I think Atlanta comes into this contest with a heightened sense of urgency. Atlanta averages almost eight points per game more than Green Bay and have looked really solid on defense despite what the numbers say. Simply put, I like Falcons to beat the Packers outright and get back on track for an NFC South title and playoff berth. Pick: Atlanta Moneyline Win
