NFL Washington Redskins Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Written by on May 1, 2020

After watching how last season played out in the NFL, it’s clear that there are some divisions that are head and shoulders above the rest. For the teams who struggled in those divisions, the road back to being competitive is going to be longer and tougher. On the flipside, the divisions that were tight last year could change dramatically with a good offseason. The NFC East is high on the list of divisions that could fall into that latter category, as there were times last year when it looked as though no-one wanted to win it. The Washington Redskins have the longest road back to respectability of the 4 teams in that division, so let’s look at what they did in the draft to start moving in the right direction along with their updated NFL Odds.

NFL Washington Redskins Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Redskins Round 1 Picks

In the weeks leading up to the draft, every sports outlet and media pundit comes up with mocks drafts that predict how things will play out. None of them get it entirely right, although the first few picks are usually spot on. Everyone had the Washington Redskins taking edge rusher Chase Young out of Ohio State with the 2nd pick overall, and that is exactly what they did. Young is the type of disruptive talent that can essentially transform a defense overnight, and he looks to be a can’t miss addition.

Redskins Round 3 Picks

The Redskins did not have any picks in the 2nd round, but they made a very interesting pick in the 3rd, going with RB Antonio Gibson out of Memphis. Gibson has been drawing a lot of attention of late, with some pundits even going as far as comparing him to Christian McCaffrey because of his versatility. That is a big comparison to live up to, but still a great pick.

Redskins Round 4 Picks

The Redskins went into the 4th round with a chance to load up a little, with a pair of selections on the board. They got things started by taking OT Saahdiq Charles out of LSU, as they looked to add some depth there, They are also looking to add some weapons for Dwayne Haskins to throw to, and while WR Antonio Gandy-Golden might not make an immediate impact, he will add some depth at receiver.

Redskins Round 5 Picks

The Redskins were busy again in the 5th round, as they once again had 2 more picks to work with. Their first pick was about adding positional depth, which they did by taking C Keith Ismael out of San Diego State. Versatility and leadership was also considered important for the Redskins, and they got both with the addition of OLB Khaleke Hudson, who was a tea captain with Michigan last season.

Redskins Round 7 Picks

The Redskins closed out the weekend with another couple of picks in the 7th and final round. They went with S Kamren Curl out of Arkansas and DE James Smith-Williams out of North Carolina State.

The redskins landed themselves a great player in Chase Young, and they didn’t do too badly in the remainder of the 2020 NFL Draft. It’s still a long way back for this team, who the bookies have at +10000 Odds to win the Super Bowl.
