NHL Parlay Picks of the Week (December 19-25)

With an 82-game regular season, you expect teams to have some major ups and down during the course of the season, but this year’s NHL is stranger than any that I can remember. We are seeing some really long streaks happening, seemingly on a weekly basis. You have the Flyers just coming off a 10-game win streak, and now the Columbus Blue Jackets are beginning this week on a 9-game winning run. While you would think that this would make selecting winners a little easier, I find that it makes things tougher, as you start second guessing whether teams will keep those streaks alive or finally lose. We had an okay return last week, hitting 2 of the 4 parlay tickets that we played, which essentially allowed us to break even. Let’s hope I can come up with something a little better with this week’s NHL betting parlay tickets.

Monday December 19 – Flames and Flyers

The Calgary Flames saw their 6-game winning streak come to a grinding halt last week with back to back losses against Tampa Bay and Columbus. While those losses are sure to sting, this looks like a team that is finally starting to click under a new head coach. The Flames have been better on the road than at home this season, and are 3-games over .500 away from the Saddledome. They get the week started with a road trip to face an Arizona team that has is very poor. Put the Flames in the win column.The Flyers final fell to defeat after winning 10-stright, but I don’t see them suddenly going in the tank. They will get their week rolling by welcoming in a Nashville squad that has lost 3 in a row, and which is 6 games under .500 on the road.

Tuesday December 20 – Bruins and Canadiens

When talking about streaks, you also need to talk about the losing ones, as well as the great winning runs. The New York Islanders are at the negative end of the spectrum, and are starting this week on a 5-game losing skid. Things don’t look to be getting any easier, as they will get this week rolling with a visit to Boston to face a Bruins team that is having a very solid season so far.Teams that top their division or conference tend to have one thing in common: an impressive record on home ice. There are few better at that this season than the Montreal Canadiens, as they have gone 12- 2-2 at home this season. A tough game against the Anaheim Ducks is next, but I think Montreal prevails.

Thursday December 22 – Lightning and Maple Leafs

Let’s see if we can finish this week with what should be a rather profitable ticket. The Lightning have what looks to be a very tough game against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night, especially given that they are just 2-6- 2 in their last 10. I like them to get back on track against a Blues team that has gone 5- games under .500 on the road this season.The Colorado Avalanche are about as bad as it gets, and while the Toronto Maple Leafs are not exactly setting the world on fire, they have a lot more firepower than Colorado. I like the Leafs to head into Colorado and come away with the win.
