Written by on November 7, 2016

Have you taken a look at the NHL standings today:? Three of the four division leaders are Original Six clubs: the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks. The fourth is the upstart Edmonton Oilers, led by early Hart Trophy favorite Connor McDavid. Here are three games to watch in NHL betting for this week.

Top NHL Betting Games of the Week (Nov 6-13)

Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens, Tuesday

The Habs lead the NHL with 21 points and have just one regulation loss in 12 games. They come off a 5-4 win over the Flyers on Saturday, less than 24 hours after a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets — the first time the Canadiens conceded 10 goals since Dec. 2, 1995. Tomas Plekanec scored the eventual winner at 10:57 of the third period vs. Philly while the Habs were playing down a man. Montreal is 9-0- 0 when scoring first this year. The Canadiens remain perfect at home this season 7-0- 0. Montreal won at Boston 4-2 on Oct. 22. Carey Price stopped 19 shots and Brendan Gallagher and Phillip Danault each had second-period goals. Dominic Moore and Ryan Spooner scored for Boston, which is winless in its last nine games at home against its longtime rivals. Backup goalie Anton Khudobin made 25 saves. It should be No. 1 goalie Tuukka Rask in this one, although it's the second of a back-to- back for Boston.

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues, Wednesday

St. Louis is three points behind Chicago for first place in the Central Division. These long-time rivals played in the first round of last year’s playoffs. The Blues ousted Chicago in seven games. These Hawks won their sixth straight game Sunday, 4-3 in overtime over Dallas. Marian Hossa scored at 4:31 of overtime. Jonathan Toews had a goal and two assists and Patrick Kane scored for the third time in four games, helping the Blackhawks sweep the home-and- home set with the Stars. Scott Darling, subbing for red-hot starter Corey Crawford, made 32 stops as the Blackhawks improved to 7-1- 1 at home. St. Louis won a second straight Sunday, 5-1 over Colorado. Robby Fabbri, who had 18 goals as a rookie last year, finally scored his first of this season. St. Louis entered with 26 goals in 12 games this season and hadn’t scored more than two goals in any of its past six games. Jake Allen stopped 22 shots for St. Louis, and the Blues killed off five power plays. The Blues opened the season in Chicago and won 5-2. Vladimir Tarasenko had two goals and an assist. Kevin Shattenkirk and Paul Stastny each had a goal and two assists for the Blues. Allen had 17 saves.

NY Islanders at Tampa Bay Lightning, Thursday

It’s two of the NHL’s high-powered offenses in this one. However, the Isles will be without a key player for 4-6 weeks as defenseman Travis Hamonic is sidelined with an upper-body injury suffered on Saturday. Hamonic was injured blocking a shot by Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon at 12:13 of the first period. In 12 games this season, Hamonic has two goals and five points, and is averaging 19:46 of ice time per game. Hamonic was paired with Nick Leddy, and the pair is frequently matched up against the top lines of opposing teams. The Isles will look for payback here after losing 6-1 at home to Tampa Bay on Nov. 1. Nikita Kucherov had two goals and two assists, and Ben Bishop made 26 saves for Tampa. It was the teams' first meeting since the Lightning beat the Islanders in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals last spring.
