Biggest Surprises:  Patriots +400, Eagles +750

New England opened the NFL Preseason a +800 chalk in Las Vegas. As of August 29, they offer +400 odds in the MyBookie Sportsbook. Odds change from sportsbook to sportsbook. The MyBookie odds should be the most correct odds, though. The Patriots acquired a solid left tackle, Trent Brown, from the San Francisco 49’ers. Brown will solidify the weak side of the line. New England also signed wide receiver Eric Decker while wide receivers Philip Dorsett, Chris Hogan, and Cordarrelle Patterson have looked great this season. It’s all systems go for the New England Patriots. Like New England, Philadelphia has maintained favoritism to win Super Bowl LIII even though starting quarterback Carson Wentz might not play Week 1. The L.A. Rams made a huge move to +800 while Philly drifted to +850. After the first couple of NFL Preseason weeks, the Eagles lowered to +750 odds. Super Bowl future bettors continue to show faith in the Eagles. That faith might be because back-up Nick Foles has played this preseason. But, Foles hasn’t looked good. The Eagles’ defense has. Philly’s D is the reason they remain the second choice to the Patriots.

Biggest Movers:  L.A. Chargers +1800, Dallas Cowboys +1600, New Orleans Saints +1500, San Francisco 49’ers +1600

Are the 49ers a safe bet to win Super Bowl LIII? After Super Bowl LII, the Los Angeles Chargers opened at less than +2000. They shot up to +2200 to +2400 after tight-end Hunter Henry and cornerback Jason Verrett suffered season ending injuries. The Chargers have fallen to below +2000. That’s a dramatic move for a team with a major injury on both its offense and defense. Dallas opened as an over +2000 choice to win Super Bowl LIII. The Cowboys’ odds have dramatically fallen even though Dallas is 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS in the preseason. Like the Rams, the Cowboys have barely played Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, which could explain the preseason performances. The Saints opened at +2200 odds. Methodically, New Orleans has drifted to the current +1500 odds. New Orleans’ defense has looked good in the preseason. It hasn’t surrendered more than 20 points in any game. San Francisco’s Super Bowl LIII odds have moved the most. The 49’ers opened as a +2500 choice. They’re now at +1600. San Francisco won their final 5 games last season after starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. If you’re a follow the money Super Bowl LIII bettor, consider wagers on the Chargers, Saints, or 49’ers. If you bet on favorites, New England looks like the play.
