Why bet on the Manchester City?

City came flying out of the gate to start the season, but they have seen their fortunes shift in recent weeks, losing games that you would ordinarily believe they should have no problem winning. They do seem to be on the rebound now, winning 3 in a row after losing back to back games to Chelsea and Leicester. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of their current run is that they have only given up a single goal in those 3 games, which is a massive improvement over the 7 that they gave up in the previous two. This is a defense that still looks very vulnerable at times, though, and Liverpool are a team that can expose those weaknesses brilliantly.

Liverpool are following a similar pattern to City in recent weeks, and are also coming into this game on a 3-game winning streak. This followed a pair of games where they were not at their best, giving up a 2-goal lead to lose 4-3 at Bournemouth, followed by a 2-2 tie against struggling West Ham. Those results may actually be a perfect representation of this team, as it shows how they can seemingly score goals at will, yet always be in danger due to a porous defense. Having Simon Mignolet back in goal appears to have steadied the ship a little, as they have scored 8 and conceded only 1 in their last 3 games. Liverpool should be confident heading into this one, as they beat City 3-0 at the Etihad in their last meeting.
