Roger Federer vs Novak Djokovic

So far, so good for top seed Novak Djokovic. Djokovic handled Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) in the quarterfinals. Before beating Raonic, Djokovic sent Diego Shwartzman packing 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.  Roger Federer has also played well. FedEx got past Tenny Sandgren 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 in his quarterfinals match.

In the last matchup between these two, Federer came out ahead 6-4, 6-3. That was the Nitto ATP Finals. At the 2019 Wimbledon Finals, Djokovic came out ahead after a legendary 8-set marathon. Does that mean Federer has a shot to upset Djokovic in the semifinals?

Yes, Roger can beat Novak in this. But he won’t. Federer is 38-years-old. He’s played way too many sets during this tournament to challenge the best player in the world. Rogers has played 17 sets in the last 3 matches. He played 6 sets in the win over Sandgren. That’s too much tennis. Djokovic should beat Federer in straight sets.

Tennis Betting Pick: Novak Djokovic

Dominic Thiem vs Alexander Zverev

Dominic Thiem upset Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals. Thiem provided an excellent performance. He beat Rafa 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). We wrote that Thiem had a shot because he had beaten Nadal in the past. The big question is whether he can keep it going versus a surging Alexander Zverev.

The 22-year-old German player got past Stanislas Wawrinka 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. This feels like Zverev’s time. He’s always had the talent. Alexander has failed to live up to that talent, though. Maybe, he lives up it at the 2020 Australian Open? He’s certainly worth backing at +140. Thiem had to work hard to knock out Rafa while Zverev has 2 wins over Thiem in 8 tries. It’s Alexander’s time. He won’t disappoint.

Tennis Betting Pick: Alexander Zverev
