Heading into every UFC event, there is generally always a storyline or two that makes a couple of the fights that much more interesting. Things are no different this weekend at UFC Vegas 40, where Aspen Ladd is moving up in weight to replace Holly Holm not long after failing to make weight for her last scheduled bout. This is a very short notice move that you hope doesn’t have a negative impact on the headline event of the night. What we are left with here is a 5-fight main card that has some very decent bouts listed. We are going to take a look at each of those fights, with the current UFC odds and predictions included.

MMA Betting Preview for UFC Fight Night: Ladd vs Dumont

Julian Marquez (-250) Vs Jordan Wright (+195)

The night begins with a Middleweight bout featuring a pair of fighters trying to move up the rankings. Marquez comes in with a 9-2 record and a modest 2-fight win streak to his name. His losses come when he is forced to go the distance, so he’ll be looking to get this one done quickly. Wright is 12-1, which includes going 2-1 in the UFC, and he too has a tendency to win early. I see no way this one goes the distance, so I am on Marquez for the KO win.

Manon Fiorot (-250) Vs Mayra Bueno Silva (+195)

The ladies are up next for a Flyweight bout, and you have to say that neither of these fighters is that familiar with losing. Fiorot did lose her first fight as a pro, but she has been perfect since then, winning 7 in a row. It has been a bit of a tough road for Silva since joining the UFC, as she has gone 2-1-1 in that run after starting out with 5 straight wins as a pro. I like Fiorot to keep her winning streak going in this one.

Jim Miller (-225) Vs Erick Gonzalez (+185)

It is the Lightweights stepping into the octagon next, with one of these fighters looking to get back on track after a rough patch of form. That would be Jim Miller, who is 32-16 overall, but who is coming into this one on a 2-fight skid and a loser in 3 of his last 4. Gonzalez is 14-5 and on a much more impressive run of form, winning 4 of his last 5. I think Miller gets back to winning here, and I like him to get the win via submission.

Andrei Arlovski (-115) Vs Carlos Felipe (-115)

The co-main event of the night sees the big boys step in the octagon for what promises to be a bruising Heavyweight fight. At 31-20, Arlovski brings a ton of experience to the table. He also has 3 wins in his last 4 fights. Felipe is still very much on the rise, going 11-1 in his pro career. He has bounced back nicely from his first loss, winning 3 in a row since then. This should be a good one, and I have Arlovski winning by decision.

Norma Dumont (+100) Vs Aspen Ladd (-130)

As we mentioned at the top of this piece, this is not the Featherweight bout we were expecting, which makes it a little tougher to predict. Dumont is 6-1 in her pro career and has won 2 in a row ahead of this one after losing her first fight in the UFC. Ladd is 9-1 overall and making a step up in weight to take on this fight on very short notice. That aspect makes me a little nervous here, but I still think Ladd comes away with the KO win.
