The last few years have been particularly frustrating for fans who follow the exploits of Conor McGregor. He is one of the most polarizing figures in the sport, but love him or hate him, you cannot deny that he is a huge draw. After a couple of different retirement announcements, UFC head Dana White recently mentioned that we will be seeing McGregor again. While we all thought that meant he would be back in the UFC, it now looks as though the Irishman will be in the boxing ring next year, this time to face Manny Pacquiao. I would wait until this one is officially announced before getting too excited, but that is the most recent McGregor rumor.

The headline event at UFC 253 last weekend saw Israel Adesanya demolish Paolo Costa to retain his middleweight title, but the win did not come without some controversy. Leading up to this bout, Costa had been running his mouth quite hard, with some harsh words aimed at the champ. When the RKO came on Saturday night, Adesanya climbed on Costa and humped him like a dog, all while mocking the challenger’s corner. It was a move that did not sit well with a lot of people, with some suggesting that a fine should be levied. During the post-fight interview, the champ made it clear that he wants his next opponent to be Jared Cannonier. Whether that happens remains to be seen.

There was another big fight on the main card last weekend, with Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes going head to head for the vacant light-heavyweight title. It was Blachowicz who came away with the win after pummeling Reyes in the 2nd round to win by TKO. Th question now is who the Polish fighter will face in the first defense of his title, with a few names tossed into the octagon at the moment. All signs would appear to point to the winner of the Thiago Santos and Glover Teixiera fight on November 7th, but there are also some rumors that Anthony Johnson may skip ahead of both of those guys to get the title shot. Watch this space to find out more in the coming weeks.
