UFC Fight Night: Smith Vs Clark Expert Analysis

With just one day to go before UFC Fight Night 15 in Las Vegas, some of the shine has been taken off the event. News came on Friday afternoon that the headline event between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis had been called off after Blaydes tested positive for COVID. What that means is that the main card in now down to just 4 fights, although the one that now serves as the final fight of the night was originally listed as a co-main event. While we still have 3 very good fights to look forward to on Saturday night, we still have to say that it is more than a little disappointing to see any bout postponed, especially at such a late stage, when finding a replacement is impossible. That aside, we still have 4 fights to preview along with their UFC odds, so let’s get right to it.

UFC Fight Night: Smith Vs Clark | MMA Betting

Bill Algeo (+150) Vs Spike Carlyle (-180)

The main card begins with a Featherweight bout with a pair of fighters looking to bounce back from losses. This will be just the second fight for Algeo under the UFC banner, as he comes into this one on the heels of a loss to Ricardo Lamas in his first fight in the UFC. That defeat means that he has lost 2 of his last 3 fights, taking his career record to 13-5. Carlyle has a 1-1 record in the UFC after losing last time out against Billy Quarantillo. That defeat ended a run that saw Carlyle win 5 in a row. His career record now stands at 9-2. I expect a bit of a battle here, but I like Carlyle to get the win via KO.

Miguel Baeza (-160) Vs Takashi Sato (+130)

The fights that sit down near the bottom of the main card tend to feature fighters looking to make a move up the ranks in the early part of their career. This Welterweight bout features Miguel Baeza, a fighter with a perfect 9-0 record as he looks to win his 3rd straight in the UFC. Both of his wins in the UFC have come via KO in the second round, so he is a threat to get the job done quickly. Sato is 2-1 in his stint in the UFC, and like his opponent here, he has made a habit of getting the job done early. I don’t see any way this one goes the distance I am on Baeza to win via KO.

Josh Parisian (-200) Vs Parker Porter (+160)

The big boys are up next for what promises to be a bruising heavyweight bout. Parisian is on a tear that has seen him win 6 in a row, a run of form that has caught the attention of the UFC, where he will be making his first appearance on Saturday. All 6 of the wins on this streak have come in the early rounds, so expect Parisian to come out with guns blazing. Parker Porter made his first start in the UFC in his last bout, but he did not fare particularly well, going down in the first round in that one. I think he may suffer a similar fate here.

Anthony Smith (-145) Vs Devin Clark (+115)

And just like that, this Light Heavyweight bout is now the headline event of the night in what looks to be an evenly matched bout. Anthony Smith has a ton of experience, as suggested by his 33-13 record, but he has been on a poor run of form of late, losing back to back fights and 3 of his last 4, albeit against very good opponents. Clark, on the other hand, is coming into this one on the heels of back to back wins that have taken him to 12-4 in his career. This, though, feels like a bit of a step up, so I think he will come up short. I am taking Smith by decision.
