It’s another big fight night in Las Vegas, with UFC 255 set to go at the Apex this coming Saturday night. The action has been coming thick and fast over the past few months in the UFC, but this is arguably one of the bigger events in a while. We have a pair of title fights set to go in what is being billed as a co-main event, with a total of 5 fights on the main card. There is a lot of ground to cover here, so let’s get right to the main card for a quick preview and prediction on each of the 5 fights that you can bet against their UFC odds.
UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo Vs Perez | MMA Betting
Mauricioa Rua (+150) Vs Paul Craig (-180)
The main card begins with a Light Heavyweight bout that has all the makings of an absolute beauty. Both of these fighters are ranked just outside the top 10, so a win here could mean a positive move in the right direction. Rua is unbeaten in 3 fights, picking up 3 wins and a draw, the latter of which came against Craig. Overall, Rua boasts a 27-11-1 record. Craig comes in at 13-4-1 and has bookended his draw with Rua with a pair of opening round wins. I think he is going to need to go the distance here, but I like the Scotsman to win.
Katlyn Chookagian (+210) Vs Cynthia Calvillo (-270)
The ladies are up next for a flyweight bout that could help determine who gets a shot at the title in the near future. Chokagian has already had a shot at the crown, losing to Valentina Shevchenko back in February. She bounced back with a win but took another loss last time out, dropping to 14-4 in the process. Calvillo, who is 9-1-1, is moving in the right direction and is on a 3-fight winning streak coming into this one. This will be a tough fight that might well go the distance. Edge to Calvillo.
Mike Perry (-140) Vs Tim Means (+110)
We have what looks to be a very evenly matched Welterweight bout up next, although both fighters have been somewhat up and down in their recent matches. After going on a run that saw him win 7 in a row, Mike Perry has hit a bit of a wall, going 3-5 since that run. He is coming into this one on the heels of a UD win. It has been much the same for Tim Means, who is starting to see the losses pile up, with 4 defeats in his last 7 bouts. I expect a good scrap here and like Perry to win by KO.
Valentina Shevchenko (-1520) Vs Jennifer Maia (+905)
Our first title fight of the night serves as the penultimate bout of the evening, with Valentina Shevchenko looking to retain her crown. This will be the 4th title defense for the champion, who is currently on a 5-fight win streak. The odds suggest that this might be the easiest of the bunch, but we have seen surprises in the past. Maia is getting her shot after a big win against Joanne Calderwood last time out, but she has struggled against better fighters, which is why I think the champ ends this one quickly.
Deivision Figueiredo (-290) Vs Alex Perez (+230)
It’s another big title fight to close out the night, with Figuieredo looking to defend his crown for the first time after winning it at the second attempt versus Joseph Benavidez. The champ comes in on a 4-hit win streak that has taken his pro record to an impressive 19-1. Perez comes into this one on a 3-fight win streak, including back to back opening round wins. This is his biggest bout since losing to Joseph Benavidez, but I thin we can expect the same outcome, as I like the champ to defend his title.
