The first major MMA event of the New Year is here, with UFC 270 set to go on Saturday night. As main cards go, this is a bit of a smaller one, with just 5 fights set to go. That said, the top two bouts on the card are both title fights, so this really is a major event. It is worth noting, especially for those of you who are planning to go the PPV route, that this one starts at 6 PM EST, so it is perhaps a little earlier than you are used to for the big UFC cards. Let us now take a moment to quickly break down all 5 fights, with UFC odds and predictions for all the main card fights at UFC 270.

Rodolfo Vieira (-210) Vs Wellington Turman (+170)

We get the main card rolling with a Middleweight bout that features a fighter in desperate need of a win to break out of a slump. That would be Wellington Turman, who has struggled of late, losing 3 of his last 5 fights to see his record fall to 17-5. Vieira isn’t quite as experienced, but that hasn’t stopped him putting together a very respectable 8-1 record, which includes 4 wins in his last 5. A good matchup here, but I have Vieira winning by submission.

Cody Stamann (+155) Vs Said Nurmagomedov (-190)

Next up is what looks to be a very entertaining Bantamweight bout. This is a big one for Stamann, as he is on a poor run of form that he really needs to break out of. He is 19-4-1 overall, but 2 of those losses have come in his last 2 fights. Nurmagomedov comes in with a 14-2 career mark and is on a run that has seen him win 4 of his last 5. A very evenly matched fight that I like to go the distance, with Nurmagomedov getting the win.

Michael Pereira (-280) Vs Andre Fialho (+220)

We move to a Welterweight battle next and a pair of fighters who are both in very good form. Pereira is 26-11 overall, but it is what he has done lately that makes him dangerous. He comes in on a 3-game win streak, with 2 of those fights going the distance. After a bit of a rough patch, Fialho has steadied the ship and has looked good recently, winning 4 fights in a row. There is a chance that this one goes the distance, but either way, I have Periera for the win.

Brandon Moreno (-185) Vs Deiveson Figueiredo (+155)

Next up is the co-main event of the night and the first of the 2 title fights on the main card. This one is for the Flyweight title and will be the 3^rd straight meeting between these two fighters. Moreno is the champion, beating Figuieredo the first time and drawing the second fight. Figueiredo has only lost twice in his pro career, so he cannot be counted out despite his lack of success versus Moreno. Another close one, but I think the champ gets the decision.

Francis N’Gannou (+110) Vs Ciryl Gane (-140)

They don’t come much better than this Heavyweight title bout, with N’Gannou, the current champion, taking on Gane, the interim champion. N’Gannou is 16-3 in his career and is on a run that has seen him win each of his last 5 fights. Gane comes into this one with a perfect 10-0 record and the kind of power that makes him very dangerous indeed. This is a coin flip, really, and I don’t see it going all the way. I am taking N’Gannou to win.
