MMA Betting Rundown of the Main Fights for UFC 285 Jones vs. Gane – Main Card Betting Rundown

When: Saturday, Mar. 4 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
TV/Streaming: ESPN PPV

Bo Nickal -1666 vs. Jamie Pickett +781

Main Card Event
Weight Class: Middleweight

Pickett has a decent 13-8 record. Not only does Pickett have a good record, but he also has a 4 inches reach advantage.

However, Jamie doesn’t have a specific skill. He’s more of a striking, free style, type brawler with a tough chin. Bo Nickal might already be one of the top wrestlers at UFC.

The Dan White Contender Series star is 3-0. There’s a reason oddsmakers made Bo such a massive chalk. Nickal takes his record to 4-0.

UFC 285 Pick: Bo Nickal

Mateusz Gamrot -227 vs. Jalin Turner +172

Main Card Event
Weight Class: Lightweight

The favorite in this often wins. Mateusz Gamrot is 21-2. Both of Mateusz’s losses came via decision. Gamrot is undefeated, a terrific 7-0, via knockout or technical knockout, and undefeated, a great 5-0, via submission victories.

Jalin Turner, though, has huge length and height advantages. Turner boasts a 7 inches reach advantage in this bout. If Jalin uses his reach and keeps this fight off the mat, he can pull off the upset win.

UFC 285 Pick: Jalin Turner

Geoff Neal +373 vs. Shavkat Rakhmanov -555

Main Card Event
Weight Class: Welterweight

It would be nice if we could back Geoff Neal. The underdog in this bout is a talented fighter with a very good 15-4 record.

But Neal faces one of the top mixed martial artists at UFC. Shavkat Rakhmanov isn’t just 16-0 but he’s 16-0 with 16 stoppage victories.

The well-rounded Rakhmanov has stopped 8 of his opponents via KO or TKO. He’s stopped the other eight via submission. Shavkat gets the win.

UFC 285 Pick: Shavkat Rakhmanov

Valentina Schevchenko -769 vs. Alexa Grasso +484

Main Card Event: Co-main event of UFC 285
Weight Class: Women’s Flyweight
Title: UFC Women’s Flyweight Title

No doubt, Alexa Grasso has a chance. Grasso is tough. Also, she can beat you in the stand up, 4-0 via knockout or technical knockout, and has a decent ground game.

But Grasso’s ground game doesn’t compare to Valentina Shevchenko’s. The champ hasn’t lost since 2017 and when she did it was versus Amanda Nunes.

Also, there’s no comparison when it comes to quality of opponent. Schevchenko has beaten the best of the best while Grasso has fought good, but not great fighters.

UFC 285 Pick: Valentina Schevchenko

Jon Jones -175 vs. Cyril Gane +137

Main Card Event: Co-main event of UFC 285
Weight Class: Heavyweight
Title: UFC Heavyweight Title

Jon Jones has a fantastic 26-1 record. We shouldn’t even count the loss to Matt Hamill because it happened via disqualification, which means no MMA fighter on the planet has really beaten Bones.

For sure, the 35-year-old Jones won’t be as amazing as he was when he was 23. 11-1 Cyril Gane, though, is 32. So the age gap isn’t as pronounced as one might think.

Not only that, but Gane doesn’t have the overall talent that Jones possesses. Cyril has a decent ground game and is great in the stand up versus slower opponents. Bones will be the faster man in the Octagon. Back the chalk to cash.

UFC 285 Pick: Jon Jones
