2023 is almost here, which is why it makes sense for us to check out the UFC events that Dana White and the world’s top mixed-martial-arts promotion company has scheduled for next year. MMA fans should be happy in January because UFC has two events. UFC has scheduled three events in February and four fight cards in March. Check out a list of the UFC fight promotions taking place from January to March along with free UFC Betting picks for  a few fights we know should happen.

2023 UFC Top Events

• When: Jan. 14 – March 25

UFC Fight Night: Gastelum vs Imamov – Jan. 8

Gastelum will have his fans, but it’s going to be difficult to go against Imamov in this. The French fighter has a 6 inches height advantage and a 4 inches reach advantage. 

In addition, Imamov has won three straight and Gastelum has won 1-of-5, including dropping his last via decision. Right now, and remember it’s early, Imamov is the pick to beat Gastelum.

UFC 283: Figueiredo vs Moreno 4 – Jan. 14

• Lauren Murphy 16-5 vs Jessica Andrade 23-9

Murphy has won 4-of-5. Her lone loss in the last five happened in a championship bout against Valentina Schevchenko in 2021.

Andrade has won 3-of-4. Like Murphy, Jessica’s last loss came versus Schevchenko in a 2021 bout. 

We can make a case for either, which is why this early we must consider backing Lauren. She has a 4 inches height advantage and a 5-inch reach advantage.

• Gilbert Burns 20-5 vs Neil Magny 27-10

Magny has a 9-inch reach advantage and a 4-inch height advantage. Not only that, but Magny has won three of his last four bouts.

Gilbert Burns has lost 2-of-3. Burns’ losses came versus tough MMA fighters Kamara Usman in a championship bout and 12-0 Khamzat Chimaev. 

Burns can win this but Magny has a better ground game. So all Neil will do is force Gilbert to the mat and use his physical advantages to get the win.

• Deiveson Figueiredo 21-2-1 vs Brandon Moreno 20-6-2 | UFC Flyweight Title

For the fourth time, Figueiredo will throw down with Moreno. The pair drew in the first match in 2020.

Moreno won the second match via submission. Figueiredo won the third match via decision. What will happen in the fourth match?

Right now, the money is on Moreno to make the required adjustments. Then in the fifth match, Figueiredo will get it done because it will be his turn to adjust.

UFC 284 Makhachev vs Volkanovski – Feb. 11

• Robert Whittaker 25-6 vs Paulo Costa 14-2

Whittaker has won 4-of-5. His only loss in the last five came versus Israel Adesanya. 

In August this year, Costa broke a 2-match losing streak in a win against Luke Rockhold. Luke isn’t the same fighter he once was and Whittaker beat Marvin Vettori in September in his last. So, for now, Whittaker gets the nod. 

UFC 284 Pick: Robert Whittaker 

• Yair Rodriguez 15-3 vs Josh Emmett 18-2

Rodriguez beat Brian Ortega in his last, but the bout happened way back in July this year. Josh Emmett hasn’t fought since June 18, 2022.

But Emmett is on a 5-match winning streak while Yair shows 3 wins, a draw, and a loss in this last 5. It’s going to be tough to go against Josh in this match. 

UFC 284 Pick: Josh Emmett

• Islam Makhachev 23-1 vs Alexander Volkanovski 25-1 | UFC Lightweight Title

Volkanovski has a 1.5 inches reach advantage. Makhachev is taller by 4 inches. So Alexander’s reach shouldn’t give him much of an edge.

Volkanovski hasn’t lost since 2013. Makhachev hasn’t lost since 2015. A draw happened in the main event at UFC 282 Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev. So why couldn’t a draw happen in this?
