WNBA Betting Picks of the Week – June 11th Edition

The NBA season is over for another year, with the Golden State Warriors once again walking away as champions. While the end of the season is always a little bittersweet for fans and betting enthusiasts, they still have some basketball to watch, as the WNBA Betting action is now underway. It’s not a league that we have covered much here, but with the World Cup set to dominate the proceedings for the next month, we thought it might be good to take a little look at what is going on with the women of the hard court. Atlanta Dream vs. LA Sparks – Tuesday

Both of these teams are off to winning starts to the season, and while the Dream needs to be content with second in the East with a 5-3 record, the Sparks are leading the way at 5-2. There is little to separate these two, as both don’t exactly light up the scoreboard, but both are sound on the defensive side of the court. The Sparks have the best defensive record in the league at the moment and are also a solid 3-1 at home. The Dream seems to relish playing on the road, though, posting a 3-1 record in the early going. I expect a tight, low-scoring battle here, with the Dream getting the road win. WNBA Betting Pick: Atlanta Dream 72 – LA Sparks 71

Washington Mystics vs. Connecticut Sun – Wednesday

The Connecticut Sun are off to a great start this season, tearing up the Eastern Conference with a 7-1 record. There is no real secret to their success, as the stats tell the whole story. They are unbeaten in their own building at 4-0, and they are also the top scorers in the league, averaging 92.6 PPG. The Washington Mystics are in at 5-4, 2 ½ games off the pace being set by the Sun. This is their opportunity to close the gap at the top, but it looks like a bit of an ask, especially since Washington is just 2-2 on the road. I see a comfortable win for the Sun here. Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream – Thursday

It’s still very early in the season, but even at this point, it is becoming quite clear that the Indiana Fever may be in for a long year. They are winless at 0-8 and are the lowest scoring team in the league, averaging just 76.1 PPG. You wonder how they are going to get enough points on the board to win this one, as they are going against one of the better defensive teams in the WNBA. The good news for the Fever is that Atlanta has struggled a little at home, going just 2-2, but I think they improve that record with a win here. New York Liberty vs. Minnesota Lynx – Saturday

We couldn’t possibly finish this preview without taking a look at what the defending champion Minnesota Lynx are up to in the early going. This is a team that has won the championship twice in the last 3 years, but they are not seeing things go their way to start the season, getting out to a poor 3-6 start., which includes being a game under .500 at home. Things are not much better for the New York Liberty, as they are just 3-4, with a 1-1 record on the road. Both of these teams need a win, and I like the Lynx to get it.
