Boxing Events in MyBookie: Donaire and Haney Highlight Great Saturday Action

Saturday, May 29th Bouts

  • Batyrzhan Jukembayev -125 / Subriel Matias -105

18-0 with 14 knockouts Batyrzhan Jukembayev takes on 16-1 with 16 knockouts Subriel Matias. On paper, this can go either way. Jukembayev has the edge, though, because he’s a tactician. The man can throw equally well to the head and the body. Matias has a longer reach. But Matias doesn’t always use his reach. Give the chalk the nod.

Boxing Pick: Subriel Matias

  • Azinga Fuzile -110 / Martin Joseph Ward -120

15-1 with 8 knockouts Fuzile has a shot against 24-2-1 Martin Joseph Ward. But Fuzile heads into this off his first loss. Sometimes, boxers don’t bounce back well after their first loss. Ward is great at using his length. Fuzile doesn’t keep his hands high enough and he fights low. That should give Ward a nice target to throw at.

Boxing Pick: Martin Joseph Ward

  • Gary Antuanne Russell -800 / Jovanie Santiago +450

Russell has dominated all 13 of his opponents. He’s 13-0 with 13 technical knockout or knockout victories. Santiago is 14-1-1 with 10 knockouts. Even though Santiago has a nice record, he’s fought primarily in Puerto Rico where the level of boxing isn’t as good as it is in the U.S. He should lose this fight. Russell figures to knock him out. So look for a couple of rounds to play for the KO.

Boxing Pick: Gary Antuanne Russell via TKO or KO

  • Shane Mosley Jr. +170 / Jason Quigley -210

18-1 Irish fighter Jason Quigley takes on 17-3 Shane Moseley Jr. Quigley is tall for a middleweight, 6’ 1” with a 71” reach. Mosley Jr. is also 6’ 1”. He’s got a 77” reach. If Mosley Jr. uses his reach, and he should, he can pull off the slight upset.

Boxing Pick: Shane Mosley Jr.

  • Melissa Hernandez +1400 / Chantelle Cameron -6000

Melissa Hernandez has almost no chance of beating Chantelle Cameron. The -6000 chalk is brutal. She doesn’t let up. She also has some power. Hernandez has 23 wins but only 7 via TKO or KO. Cameron will be non-stop in this. Look for a prop in MyBookie on Cameron instead of backing her on the moneyline.

Boxing Pick: Chantelle Cameron

  • Nonito Donaire +195 / Nordine Oubaali -250

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is one of the most popular boxers in the world. He’s a tough dude, building a 40-6 record. Donaire hasn’t fought since 2019, though. That fight was against the great Naoya Inoue. Nordine Oubaali is undefeated with a 17-0 record. Oubaali hasn’t fought anyone as experienced as Donaire. So even though Oubaali should win, Donaire is the much older boxer, we’re giving a nod to Nonito.

Boxing Pick: Nonito Donaire

  • Jorge Linares +450 / Devin Haney -850

At 25-0 with 15 knockouts, there’s not a ton to dislike about Haney. But at times, Haney’s style can concern. He leaves his left down and shoots it from his hip to his opponents face or body. It looks interesting on camera, but it’s not always effective. But Linares is much too slow to take advantage. Hopefully, after beating Linares, Haney will challenge himself against top competition. Look for a MyBookie boxing prop on this fight instead of backing Haney at -850.

Boxing Pick: Devin Haney
