CFL Week 8 Betting Preview

Thursday, Aug. 2

Ottawa RedBlacks 4-2 vs Toronto Argonauts 1-5

After the 27 to 3 loss to Calgary on July 12, the Ottawa RedBlacks have bounced back with 2 fantastic victories. They beat BC 29 to 25 on July 20. They beat Hamilton 21 to 15 on July 28. Once odds are set Ottawa should be close to a TD road favorite if not a TD and a half a point road fave. Will the RedBlacks cover? It appears they should because the Argos are 1 and 2 ATS at home while Ottawa is 2 and 1 ATS on the road. Ottawa is the play straight up and against the spread. CFL Week 8 Pick: Ottawa RedBlacks

Saskatchewan Rough Riders 3-3 vs Edmonton Eskimos 4-2

The Edmonton Eskimos will be slight home favorites over Saskatchewan in Thursday’s second game in CFL Week 8. Edmonton has won 3 of their last 4. Saskatchewan was on a 2 game winning streak until their 22 to 34 loss to Calgary. Although the Rough Riders didn’t cover the spread in their loss to Calgary, they played well enough to consider backing in this spot versus Edmonton. Calgary is undefeated. Laying 22 points onto the best defense in the CFL means something. Saskatchewan figures to beat Edmonton straight up in this matchup on Aug. 2. CFL Week 8 Pick: Saskatchewan

Friday, Aug. 3

Hamilton Tiger-Cats 2-4 vs Montreal Alouettes 1-5

Is Montreal a safe bet in CFL Week 8? Hamilton started out the season well. They went 2 and 1 in their first 3 games. Since that time, things have gone south. The Tiger-Cats have gone 0 and 3 straight up and against the spread in their last 3 games. Last week, Montreal traded for Tiger-Cats’ backup QB Johnny Manziel. Will Montreal play Manziel on Friday? Probably not because Hamilton might be more of a mess than the Alouettes right now. Montreal’s got a real shot of winning their second game of the season. CFL Week 8 Pick: Montreal Alouettes

Saturday, Aug. 4

British Columbia Lions 2-3 vs Calgary Stampeders 6-0

Eventually, Calgary will lose a football game. It won’t be this Saturday versus the BC Lions, though. The Lions are 0 and 3 on the road. They’re 1 and 2 against the spread on the road. Calgary has gone 5 and 1 against the spread. Their lone non-cover was versus Montreal as a +19.5 favorite. Calgary could only beat Montreal 25 to 8. The Stampeders won’t be favored by 20 points in this game. Calgary should blow out BC. They will not only win straight up, but they will also cover the spread. CFL Week 8 Pick: Calgary Stampeders
