NCAA Basketball Championship Odds: Gonzaga Betting Favorite, Purdue Smart Choice, Arizona Longshot

Written by on February 10, 2022

There has not been a big shakeup in your current favorites for the NCAA Title, but the odds are getting stronger for the top-four teams. The #1 team in the nation fell last night after a tough performance on the road and there could be a little movement towards the top of the rankings. With the regular season winding down, it is “go time” for college basketball. Let’s jump right into action so you can keep planning your bets against the NCAA Basketball Championship Odds.

College Basketball Betting – Current Title Odds

Title Favorite: Gonzaga Bulldogs +525

The preseason favorite, the preseason #1 team, and the current favorite still reigns at the top of the title odds. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are looking to make another run to the National Championship and hopefully win it this time. The Bulldogs finished runner-up last season to a very good Baylor Bears team.

This year, Gonzaga has been led by junior Drew Timme. Timme averages 17.6 points per game to go with six rebounds per game. The Bulldogs also have a freshman star in Chet Holmgren. Holmgren was the #1 recruit from the Class of 2021, and he has been great this year for Gonzaga. Holmgren averages 14.7 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Throughout the years, Gonzaga has come so close to winning the National Championship, but have not been able to jump the hurdle. The Bulldogs have a real chance this year with the squad they have.

Smart Bet: Purdue Boilermakers +1000

Picking the Purdue Boilermakers at +1000 odds would be a great pick up. The Boilermakers whooped Illinois in the second half of their game on Tuesday night. Jaden Ivey completely took over in the second half, leading the Boilermakers with 26 points.

Purdue may have the best trio in college basketball currently, and one of the biggest duos in college basketball. The trio of Ivey, Zach Edey, and Trevion Williams is very hard to stop. You can only slow down one of the three for so long before the others have a great performance.

After the performance we saw from Purdue against Illinois, the Boilermakers have every aspect covered in a team that looks ready for a National Championship. They have two of the biggest and toughest post players. They have great guard play all around, and they are coached very well. Look for Purdue down the stretch of the season.

Longshot: Arizona Wildcats +1200

The Arizona Wildcats are a sleeper team for the NCAA Tournament. Out of the PAC-12 Conference, Arizona is a team that has received the national attention they deserve. They are tall, strong, and fast, and Arizona is looking to make a big run for the National Championship.

Often we see Arizona in late-night games, which does not provide the best viewership from the central and eastern time zones. The Wildcats are currently ranked fourth in the nation in the AP Poll, and they are riding a four-game winning streak. Arizona currently has a 1.5 game lead on UCLA in the PAC-12 standings.

The Wildcats are led by Tommy Lloyd, who is in his first season as the head coach of the Wildcats. Lloyd took over for Sean Miller who left amid scrutiny for various reasons in his tenure. The Wildcats have four players averaging double figures this season, along with a top NBA prospect in Bennedict Mathurin. Arizona is a great team to bet as a dark horse, or the longshot to win the National Championship.
