Now that we are into the second half of the NHL season, we are going to see the race for playoff spots begin to heat up. There are a few teams that look to be a lock to be part of the postseason even at this stage of the season, but we have seen collapses in the past. Nothing should be taken for granted at this point, as things can change dramatically, especially after teams hit the market at the trade deadline. In terms of the schedule, this weekend is relatively quiet, but there are still plenty of games that should be on your radar if you are looking for great matchups to watch and wager on. Let’s take a look at the next few days and pick out the best games on the NHL weekend schedule so you can bet against their NHL Odds.
NHL Betting | Top Must Bet Games This Weekend: Friday, 11th to Sunday, 13th
New York Islanders at Edmonton Oilers – Friday
Both of these teams have some catching up to do in their respective divisions, but it also should be noted that both have a lot of games in hand to the teams sitting ahead of them. The Islanders are down in 5th in the Metropolitan Division, and while they have games in hand, they are not making a big impression at the moment, going 5-5-0 in their last 10. The Oilers are in an eerily similar spot in the Pacific and are also not really doing enough right now, going 5-4-1 in their last 10. Both teams could really use a win.
Toronto Maple Leafs at Vancouver Canucks – Saturday
It’s always fun to tune into games between teams that don’t meet very often. That is what we are getting here in this all-Canadian clash. The Maple Leafs are hot right now and closing the gap at the top of the Atlantic Division with 6 straight wins. They have been very good on the road this season and will certainly fancy their chances against a Canucks team that is in serious danger of slipping out of the playoff race in the Western Conference.
Carolina Hurricanes at Minnesota Wild – Saturday
This is arguably the best matchup on the weekend calendar, as it features a pair of teams looking to win their respective divisions. The Carolina Hurricanes are sitting atop the Metropolitan Division, but their lead is by a single point, and they have now lost 2 games in a row. The Minnesota Wild have a lot of ground to make up on the Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division, but they certainly look up for the challenge, going 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Two teams that will almost certainly be playing into the postseason.
Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars – Sunday
For the most part, we are looking at a tight playoff race in the Western Conference. Having said that, the Colorado Avalanche are beginning to look like a lock to land the #1 seed, as they have been in great form of late. They have gone 9-0-1 in their last 10 games and have opened up an 8-point lead at the top of the Central Division. Right now, the Dallas Stars are sitting below the playoff line in the Western Conference, but they are only a couple of points off the pace, so a win here would certainly help their cause.
