Tiafoe is among the most frustrating players on the ATP Tour as he can look like one of the best players in the world in one match and then completely fall apart and appear disinterested in another. He’s 2-2 this season after a disappointing showing at the Dallas Open, where he lost 6-1, 6-4 to Marcus Giron in the quarter-final. He lost in straight sets to Tomas Machac in the second round of the Australian Open.

The draw – and the hard court tournament – shapes up well for Tiafoe to get out of his slump, however. He’ll play the winner of Juncheng Shang and a qualifier in the second round and wouldn’t have an overly concerning third-round match either.

Tommy Paul is into the final of the Dallas Open against Giron, so it’s possible he’s a late withdrawal into the Delray Beach Open.

Should he follow through on his plans to compete in Florida, Paul would play the winner of Michelsen and a qualifier. He’s in the same half of the bracket as Tiafoe.

There’s a lot to like when betting on Tiafoe this week as he’s seemingly due for one of his hot stretches of play and he has a favorable draw. Expect him to get through the bottom half of the draw, where he could meet veteran Mannarino in the final.
