eSports Betting: League of Legends LCK Summer Split – July 8th matches

Written by on July 7, 2020

Those of you who are new to eSports may know a lot about the games being played, but you may not know much about the teams or the format that the leagues adopt. It is worth getting to know a little of that stuff before you wager on games, as each league tends to have their own format, so what applies to one league may not with another. Today, we are going to focus on the LCK, which is the Korean tournament in the League of Legends. They are now in the Summer Season, with each of their matches played as a best of 3. There are 10 teams in the LCK, all of whom face each other twice, with the top 5 teams heading into the playoffs, with roughly $250,000 in prize money up for grabs. The first round of games is close to completion, but there are still a lot of matches to be played before we get a clear idea of who will be in the playoffs. With that in mind, let’s look ahead to the 2 matches on the schedule for Wednesday so you can set down your bets against their League of Legends odds.

League of Legends LCK July 8th matches

DragonX Vs kt Rolster

We are not quite yet halfway through the regular season, but a clear favorite has already emerged from the pack. That team would be DragonX, who are a perfect 6-0 to start the season. They have been truly dominant in those matches, going 12-3 in total games. It should probably not come as a huge surprise to find them on top of the standings right now. After all, this was the team that went 14-4 in the Spring Season, and who ended up taking 3rd overall in the playoffs. They look as though they are ready to improve on that impressive performance.

It has not been the same type of start to the season for kt Rolster, as they find themselves below the playoff line and struggling to gain any sort of traction with a 2-4 record. They are 5-8 in total games played and need to make up 2 wins to get into the playoff picture. This is a bit of a surprise when you consider that they were 10-8 in Spring and in the playoffs, although they did lose in the opening round.

I think that DragonX maintain their hot start with another win here.

SANDBOX Gaming Vs Hanwha Life Esports

It’s a battle of the bottom feeders in this one, as both of these teams are off to absolutely brutal starts, with just 1 combined win between them. It is SANBOX Gaming who account for that 1 win with their 1-5 record. Overall, they are 3-11 in total games played, so not much to like here. SANDBOX finished second to last in the Spring season with a 5-13 record.

Things have been even more grim for Hanwha, as they have yet to pick up a single win through their opening 6 games. They had a very similar type of season in Spring, ending that one with a 6-12 record, but this has to be considered a real drop off from last season.

This is a tough one to handicap given how poor they have both been thus far, but I am leaning towards SANDBOX for the win.
